Have fun at the concert It sounds like you are getting to do lots of visiting which is always a pleasure! Wear a good knee brace and hopefully it heals fast. I had managed to find a brace with metal up the sides at the store that gave more support as I was working still and mostly on my feet all day. It helped a lot!
 
Hi everyone! Beautiful days here! Lots of swimming, although my toes are complaining. My skin seems to be thinning, so I've had to add socks under my flippers, it's sort of working. I might have to get actual booties. Getting old can really be a pain!
 
@Marie2 good call, don't think I'd've got through 4 hours of standing at a brilliant gig Tuesday night without the knee brace! Saw Billy Gibbons who was as awesome as ever...and has a great sense of humour. Fab night

Hi hh1, I hope all is well with you. I've a few medical things going on and I'm waiting for a second blood test result.
The forum looks so different now.
 
So it looks like I figured out the thin skin and my toes when snorkeling. Put on a preventative waterproof bandaid on each toe and then a thin sock to make sure they stay on. We were out for 3 hours today after snorkeling just a few days ago and not one raw toe! Phew........ easy solve!

I’m trying to remember what was happening in my world when last we spoke.
I’m still making mud pies, getting them baked: I love it and the groups I do this with. They’re such a range of interesting, creative, friendly people.
I’ve another chronic condition to add to the bag, stasis dermatitis, which sounds like being crawled over by nasties while lounging in a deckchair. Its other name is venous excema.
I raised the foot of the bed on books last night, two thick ones, in the hope that David Graeber & David Wengrow together with Maggie Shipstead will prevent swelling and save me from elastic stockings.

We have a second grandson who arrived in February. Have started to look after him for the odd hour getting us ready for our one day a week in November. Best thing ever!
I have been backwards and forwards to my home town the past couple of months supporting elderly parents. On top of everything they picked up covid at the hospital. My 90 year old father was very I’ll and had to be admitted. Unbelievably, although around my mum whilst she had it I didn’t pick it up. Very very stressful and not good for my levels. Got through a lot more insulin.
Husband to have eye op. Has quite a serious issue as well as cataracts and has been told not to drive. He was told yesterday that depending on repair of retina and wether he will need corneal transplants, the driving situation could last for 12 months if not permanently. Yet more stress. Thank goodness for that 5 month old bundle of happiness.
 

I hope your father is well now. We forget that Covid’s still around; a timely warning to continue to wear masks in hospital settings.
Your five month bundle of fun sounds glorious. Happy days.
 
Wow, things going on for lots of people! @Robinredbreast and @Fairygodmother, hope you both get your health issues resolved, or at least they become livable with. Sorry to hear you're both going through it.
@becca59 sounds like someone thinks you need to be tested in every direction - hard to take care of yourself when everything piles in at once. Delightful news though, glad he's cheering you up!
@Marie 2, well done, don't you love it when you can fix it yourself instead of relying on medics et al!
Things going along well here thanks, been away for several weekends, currently planning a trip to Barcelona to see my stepson and daughter in law
 
@Hurstc what do you use to give yourself long acting insulin? Which long acting insulin do you use?
Some pens have tech to record the last dose.
As to what you do right now, test, test, test and adjust. If you have forgotten, you’ll need to use short acting if your blood sugars rise.
Look at the action profile for your short acting, as it’s important not to be too trigger happy and become hypo.
Do you take long acting once or twice a day?

I take it of a morning only.

Awful that I have forgotten but I feel I inject automatically so sometimes I forget.

If you use Tresiba U100 (not U200) you can get it in penfills to use with a Novopen 5 or Novopen 6, which have a little display that remembers the last dose.

U200 is only available in disposable pens for safety reasons.

A good trick to make sure you know if you took it or not is to use one of those pill boxes with a compartiment for every day of the week. Just put a needle in each compartiment and you'll know if you took it or not.

For now, Tresiba is a very forgiving insulin with forgotten doses. Because it works so long you'll still have insulin from yesterday and the day before going.
The downside of this is that if you did forget, your blood glucose will likely be somewhat higher than usual for about 3 days.
So I'll echo @Fairygodmother , test, test, test, and correct if necessary.
