Type 1'stars R Us

Good afternoon y'all, bad start for me at 12.8, and that was a drop on an earlier correction, steady 8.5 and I've just dropped the little un back home so the gym next.
I've been once with child and friend but it seems they need an hours worth of induction to use the sports centre, I asked how this is as I've not seen a kid yet (secondary school on same site) get more than 5 minutes per group of four, so I complained, it was a council leisure centre but the management has been taken over by a 'non profit making' body and the place is slipping, but with the town having 3 pools, 2 of which are managed by these with the alternative the furthest away I'm stuck.

So I contented myself to a honest verbal appraisal of the current staffing arrangements and management competence in a politely neutral way from a long standing customers point of view.

And the monologue took over 4 minutes as there was a clock behind the managers head.

I'm impressed.

I'm impressed.

The place is less than 5 minutes walk from my house, and for that reason it's a gift, when I was younger I used a gym across town from me and as the years went by and traffic got heavier I could drive for as long as I trained, if my car broke the bike ride could be a pain managing bloods to train with, so I set up at home, this is when the old pool existed, that was knocked down and a new facility built near by on the school ground, a pool 2 lanes narrower and without the old deep end for the banned high board and a sports centre was built onto that so I eventually joined it as it was cheaper than just paying for each swim and I was regaining pool confidence prior to teaching my youngest, it was an 'ok' facility but the council eventually leased the management out just before Christmas and it's not what it was, they call it 'Better' but it's a lot worse.

Oh I could go on but it's so near and so convenient and that's a help for my diabetes.

I love clearing but I'm afraid my husband wouldn't agree with a 3 year rule. In fact I don't think he'd accept a 25 year one either. We've got a computer in the loft that uses BBC basic!

It's three years in this house just - I've actually been hanging on to these throws and boxes for 15 years. At one point in my life, I moved a lot, had the art of packing my stuff up quickly and efficiently, and kept boxes which I knew worked. Any good cardboard boxes are still something I find it very hard to part with and the throws were what I used to make my space mine! I put them away when I changed my life, and settled in the area where I now live and work, and from where I have no intention of moving. The throws are really past their best and they're going to the clothes bank later.

In the matter of books and sheet music, that's totally different! I'm going to need some new bookcases soon and I need to free up some space. I have never knowingly parted with any sheet music even in the "move 13 times in 20 years" era of my life.

When we moved house 4 years ago I refused to let the removal company pack because I didn’t want to bring half of it with us. My son came to help empty the loft with my husband. Up in the loft handing stuff down he started to laugh and then got hysterical. He was counting back the decades. I vowed then, nothing but Xmas decs in the loft.

I’m knackered. Ended up painting the outside of the house while husband did the teenager’s pit, as the sun came out.

Time for pyjamas, cat snuggles and pink wine. And a pod change.

Are you a lawyerish type person Scott? I can imagine that impacting your world view.

I'm inhouse now with a public organisation, so am not in court that often these days, but used to do mainly divorce/family law - I wouldn't say it's made me cynical about that aspect of life, but, yeah, it gave a huge insight into the dramas and tensions (and tedium) of what goes on behind closed doors.

My cousin went through a messy divorce a few years back. She said to me later, "what sort of a divorce lawyer are you, Scott - you should have told me to never marry that nutter..."

Yes, reminds me of that Tolstoy line "All happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in it's own way". I can imagine you would have seen a lot of drama that way. Has there ever been a divorce lawyer turned novelist? I know quite a few authors have moved from law to writing, but I can't think of one who was a divorce lawyer, maybe they reach a point early on where they realise real life is stranger than fiction, and never try.

What a day and not in a good way.

3rd morning in a row my overnights have been good, steady all night and waking to a 6.2 which for me is excellent

Had brekkie and went for a gentle stroll for 90 minutes doing some birdwatching and taking a few photos. At 1pm BG is still decent at 6.9, so have lunch and my injection.

2pm and BG is sitting at 4.8 and Libre shows going down. Have a handful of jelly beans and 25 mins later its gone up to 5.3. So far so good. Drive out to park in middle of now where and its now at 5.4 and steady, thought it would have been higher but hey ho, off we go for a very gentle walk. Bottle of lucozade, sweets and chocolate at ready, just in case.

25 minutes in and think I better do a check, oooooops its now 4.1 and showing going down. Start to panic a wee bit, so large handful of jelly beans and half bottle of lucozade and slow slow slow stroll back to car. 10 mins later its now 3.7 and still showing down. Now really starting to panic especially after my major hypo from last week. More lucozade, jelly beans and now chocolate, I will worry about high BG later.

Get back to car about 20 mins later and its now 4.0 and steady. Wait a further 15 mins and its now 4.2. Luckily there is cafe nearby so off for a coffee and scone. Some 40 mins later it is starting to rise, but now only at 5.9. I feel OK BG wise but overall ****.

Back home and its now 8.5 and upwards arrow on Libre so take some insulin to correct and go for lie down. Up and hour later now at 15.2 and rising. Another small correction dose and now just keeping my eye on things

This is about the 3rd time recently I have taken fast acting sugars and they seem to be having little affect short term before going through the roof.

Any suggestions???

Back Monday night....

Hypo central for me the last 2 days. FOUR hypo's yesterday. My personal best haha. Another two hypo's today. No idea what is going on as not long ago I used to have about 1 or 2 a **** month.

One a month? how did you manage that?

Try carb loading, in advance. I tend to go for quite long walk most mornings, and if it's 7 or above I'll wait, and correct before it goes too low, but if it was 5.3, I wouldn't walk far without eating something first. Bananas are very good for this.
