Half ten and what to do :) I spoke to a DSN today who said I could move Tresiba to the morning, it's Tresiba time now, and I'm thinking do I don't I? :)
I'm pretty sure it'll move the drop to the afternoon but am a bit scared I'll forget one evening and take it again, and am scared I'll forget it one morning, I've always taken it on a night :p always, every night but one, once, a long time back when I thought I'd taken it but hadn't and woke at 27.

Take it? Not take it? It's become a circular argument....

If you switch to morning, it'll take a while to get used to it. But after a while it will be the new normal.

You just have to consciously think about it, until it becomes a habit.

I used to do insulin on auto pilot, but I just don't any more, as it's too risky. I find the libre helpful on this, because you can enter the long acting on it, it's not very useful as a long term record, I put the number of units in every time, but it doesn't record them. But I find it a good way to fix in my memory whether I've done it, or not, for that day.

@kev-w I needed to split my Lantus for the first time in over however many years, having always always taken it at night. Because I found it so hard to get used to, I set alarms on my phone for the twice a day I need to take it; I know you'd only be taking it once but might setting an alarm for that work for you?

Morning everyone,

My overnight experiment was quite successful, had a small dip about 9 pm, which I corrected with the mango I would have bolused for earlier, and then I started thinking I might have over corrected, but there was just a gentle rise with a peak around about 7, followed by a gentle descent. So on that basis I think 7 units is the right amount for the evening, so I'm going to try another bolus free evening meal tonight, and see if something similar happens.

Morning all It's Friday! Yay!

boo!........was 10 something last night, correction, and was 13 something this morning - and the reason? any ones guess.

@Alison54321 do you have a half unit pen?

No I don't. I could do with one, but I prefer the disposable pens. I used the cartridges years ago, and had two issues, one that I'm quite untidy, and could lose it far too easily, the other that when it broke, it was a serious problem. Whereas both these problems are solved by disposable pens.

So though I think half units are a good idea, I don't really want to switch back to cartridges.

Woohoo.....Friday is here again
Went to bed on a 7 and woke on a 7. T1D is really easy :hilarious::hilarious:

Well sometimes T1D is very easy lol..... Oh the joys :)

@kev-w like @hh1 I too set an alarm for my basal. Having switched to mornings. (After nowhere near as many years as you mind) And my word many times I have needed it. Especially this morning. Got up to go swimming and had a terrible headache so retreated back to bed. Fell fast asleep to be woken by my 8:45 am basal alarm. On the plus side looks like the headache has gone.

At hospital on Thursday and want to discuss devices where you can inject half units. Could somebody post a picture of what the pen and cartridge components look like please. Had no idea these things existed and was always told half units for children only. For evening corrections I could do with half dose capability. In the mornings 1 unit drops me about 2 but in the evening at least 4 which is too many. This would be for Humalog. I don’t think you can do it for Toujeo, which would have been useful.

Both of mine came from me ringing their customer services and blagging one and explaining my GP couldn't find it on his prescribing list, they can post them, cost me nothing ;)

About ten years ago, I was given a "children's" pen to inject half units.
The kid inside me enjoyed the bright colours.
They are now available for "adults" in less garish colours.
I guess times have changed and there is more demand for closer control.

This reminds me of the Harry Potter books that had adult and children's covers even though the text was the same.

Interesting! Thanks!

I'm using the Novopen Echo for my bolus (Fiasp) and am about to start using one in red for the basal I'm switching to (Levemir) so that I can try to work towards a more precise amount I need for that. The colours are nice metallic shades of blue and red. Half unit pens have been great for me - there was a time during the honeymoon where I was getting hesitant about doing corrections before I had the Echo as I had occasions where 1u would drop me by >5 mmol at certain times in the day.
