Morning everyone, thought I heard a few creaking floorboards in the night, but then decided to be rational, no matter how flimsy the foundation this belief system is built upon.

Quite a nice blood sugar night, but woke, and tested and it was 3.4, which is a bit low.

Put my libre reader time back an hour, I never used to do that with the meters,.and half the year they would be the right time. and half the wrong time. but it would mess with my data too much not to do it with the libre.

So now I am ready for winter..............

There’s a wicker man on the M5 near me and he is hideous - a few years ago someone set fire to him but, unfortunately, they managed to put it out! I could think of better things to spend my council tax on!!!

Oh heck... Guess who put ALL the meters, phones and alarm clocks forwards an hour before going to bed last night... Guess who's just patiently redone the lot after over-sleeping by 2 hours having sworn at the lot on first awakening, reckoned Madame BG was already having a post-lentil tantrum and a quick fast acting adjustment would do the trick and the Levemir could wait until I got up.

All this after slowly shifting Levemir by ten minutes a day all week so there'd be a smooth transition today. No organ playing today, thankfully. But, the organ is mended so that tantrum is well sorted - I'm going to go in one day in the week and check it is all OK properly. Which I would've done if I'd been told this when it had been mended by the mender and the person who let him into church when it had happened. (I was on the verge of sending a polite, but stroppy, e-mail asking if the "I'll have a think about that. That sounds odd..." was ever going to turn into action when the church treasurer told me it was all sorted.)

Aw, I always loved him, mainly because he really offended my old man (I grew up in Bridgwater).

Slightly high all night, didn’t want to over correct because I have a (hopefully) busy day doing a craft market on the Wirral with my bio-mum. Apparently it’s Halloween fancy dress, but I didn’t know about that until just now. It appears that my regular wardrobe is considered overkill in that department anyway I do have skeletons on my socks, for an element of “fun”. Fingers crossed I can sell some stuff...

I just hope I can stay awake, as in my groggy haze this morning I took a 300mg pregabalin instead of my antibiotic

All I know is I was on a night out with a local girl & the car bubbled to a stop as I pulled out of a junction on a dark road in 1993 a couple of miles from her home. (It felt more like a fuel issue than electrical.) my passenger also held a valid driving licence.
These two brilliant pure white lights appeared about 20 meters away & sailed through the my car from the "offside" exiting the near side.. There was no sound of tires sliding on the road, no horn sounded from the "other driver." My passenger & I braced for impact. Looking around, we saw no tail lights either.. It was odd. It also didn't give the same vibe of other "paranormal" experiences..
25 years later these lights or simalar are standard on most new cars...

If anything now. I'd say it was a time traveling 2015 plate BMW?? Cuz I got no other explaination..

Looks like rain so I'll have to apologise to the 75 tulip bulbs yet again.

Morning fellow colanders, hope you all enjoyed your extra hour in bed.

Think I may have a faulty Libre sensor. I know they do not match exactly the finger prick tests but these are way out. Yesterday showing a 3.1 and going down my Libre, felt OK. Did a finger test 5.5. Last night showing a 14.6 on Libre, quick finger test showed 11.2. Overnight it was 15.8 and finger test was 11.8.

What is perhaps worrying is if I had taken a correction dose overnight based on Libre I could have potentially given myself a rather nasty hypo.

Phoned Abbot Customer Care this morning, and they are only open Monday to Friday, office hours. Not exactly customer care

Peaceful weekend which always helps BSL-wise. Gearing up for a busy Tuesday this week.
Community workshop on what to do about the electronic medical records system currently in place at hospitals in South Australia. Frankly the adoption and use of the system has been a mess.
And when you try to introduce the notion that the patient should be able to read their own medical record (or their legal representative to do so) whilst the patient is in hospital during their admission AND make notes in some part of the record during their admission - leaves health care providers in a state of puzzlement, or denial.
What is there not to understand:? Patient plus HCP usually --> patient health record, HCP minus patient does not give a Health record. Are HCPs afraid that patients will overly criticise them or draw cartoons in the record or counter the particular spin the recorder may have put on things?
Not amount of fancy computerisation can improve the accuracy of a health care record if the information gained and entered is false, misunderstood and rendered inaccurate, not checked with the patient/representative, family and/or not able to be checked in the record by the patient/patient representative and others (?GP)?.
Many years ago an acquaintance of mine died in hospital when someone failed to accurately record his allergies and sensitivities to medication and staff to not subsequently check and correct the error. The Coroner concluded that the patient may have avoided death if either the patient or patient representative could have read the patient record during admission and also been able to write in the record. This way an error/incorrect statement etc could be noted and a correction be requested in writing.
There is nothing like the persuasion of the patient's written/entered word in their patient record to produce motivation in a HCP!! Funny thing that !!
Mind you the Coroner's recommendation was made in about March 1999 but not reflected in hospital policy until May 2006.
Something for all of us as patients/healthcare consumers to consider. The mantra of HCPs is: "if it is not written down it did not happen". Where does that leave us as patients?

@helensaramay at the moment I'm with you on the Etch A Sketch and slowly getting more disillusioned with it, between 4 and 10 it almost works OK but above or below that most of the time it is guess work.

Both Glimp and xDrip can be used and allow for calibrations to be made but even using these apps I find that they too are not fantastic, so great for trends but at them moment useless for anything else.

When I first started using Libre I had a couple of sensors that were just out of whack with what was really happening. The vast majority have been fine for me, with the caveat that they become less reliable the further away I get from 'ideal' bg. So I don't trust Libre if it says I'm hypo, I check it and also rely on how I feel. With hypos there's the added issue of time lapse, so I don't rely on it to tell me that the jelly babies have brought me up to a sensible level either. The other thing I hadn't realised till the other day is how much they're affected by temperature, so that's something else to factor in. I'm one of those who applies a sensor 24 hours before I activate it and that also seemed to help a lot for me, though it doesn't answer why other people's don't settle down after 24 hours. I guess I'm just lucky and hope it continues!

Morning y'all, I woke at 6.30 with a blood of 17, I got up had fast acting and basal and went back to bed with an alarm set and re-woke at 8.1, came downstairs and it was at 9.... So I've had another fast acting jab for breakfast. I've got cold annoying as I ate a tea of 80g carbs and all looked good at bedtime.
I did plan a reduced bolus as I was going swimming but I've too much iob so hopefully will go this aft.

Ghosts? I've never seen one but many years ago I was moving home and my dad had offered to wallpaper, I'd got a reasonably hard to match pattern for him, he'd had a heart attack shortly before he was going to start so I hung it while he was recovering in hospital, I went to see him on the Saturday night and we'd joked about him looking forward to spotting my mistakes(I'd done well for a first attempt and was quite proud ), but he died in the early hours so never got to see it. A few nights later I was over at my new place just checking and I got that spooky feeling, every imaginary hair on the back of my neck stuck up, heart rate increased, classic fight or flight response so I went for fast flight and as I was sat in my car on't driveway looking at the front of the house I could have sworn my dad was watching me thru a window.

It's one of those, I was tired, upset, emotional so put it down to a weakness until the other month at my mums while clearing her bedroom out one night I got the imaginary hairs again and felt uneasy, really odd as I talked to her and the feeling went, I stopped talking and back it came so I did a runner

Kev the cynic says emotion not ghosts, but I felt something strange for sure....

I’m now using the Dexcom G6 and have found it to be excellent compared to the libre, yes there’s a degree of inaccuracy with higher results but on the whole the accuracy is pretty spot - can also calibrate against a BG meter too as well as get alerts for high/low readings, I don’t think I could manage to maintain such a low HbA1c without it.

I really wish I could afford a dexcom as it sounds much better than the Libre. However, the Libre’s a great tool for trends. I’m glad I still have physical symptoms when I’m above 9 or below 4!

I had a great Saturday, a talk by Doug Allen, cameraman, whose work’s used on Attenborough’s Blue Planet. Wonderful recording of Beluga Whales and great tales of his times photographing and filming in and out of the water. Funny, bright, inspiring, seeking communication and equality with all wildlife.
He had a very very serious message about doing everything possible to stop global warming, backed by scientific research: Change now or it’s too late. End of.

I use Libre to help me stay in target as much as possible, currently I am 91% in target, 3% above, and 6% below, these numbers would have been impossible to achieve, without Freestyle Libre.

I understand that it's not always accurate, but I would advise against rubbishing it, because compared to finger pricks, it is far far far superior.

It was not my intention to rubbish it and I am very aware of the befits that many people have got from using it, even when I complain about it Mrs Knikki points out all the plus points that it has.

But, and there is always a but, I do find that the sensors are very hit and miss and give very different readings/accuracy depending on where on the body they are placed. At them moment, those using it are basically in a mass clinical trial, and already, as we have seen Libre 2 will have the ability to use alarms, so they are still in development and can only get better as more of the technology is taken up.

As for which is better Dexcom or Libre well I have never used Dexcom so will not pass comment but looking around the interwibble the same things we moan about on Libre people moan about on Dexcom

I used to put in a lot of effort before Libre, as well, but although there is no way of knowing, I'm pretty sure a lot of my effort then was spent dealing with zig zags, with a brief transitional period a few times a day, between the highs and lows, in range.

I remember saying that to a doctor once when she complimented my on HbA1c, but now, I can stay in range, it's revolutionary.

Good afternoon all. I find the Libre very accurate, it's never too far away from my finger prick tests. With xdrip and MM (Now I got it working again) it is a very valuable tool keeping me in target and also alarming me when going low/high, being hypo unaware it is helping me a lot.
