Having a little trundle to the seaside this morning to meet a friend for coffee, and me and the teenager have a date at the cat cafe in Liverpool this afternoon. Looking forward to exploring “the city I’m from but don’t know very well” with my boy. I was adopted as a baby and got in touch with my birth family a few years ago - so while I’m from here, I don’t know the place very well. It’s an odd feeling - like home, but I’m unfamiliar with the geography. If that makes any sense.
Wishing you all a smooth sailing kind of a day️
I think it was when retailers realised they were missing a trick and there was money to be made !
Except at the school in York that Guy Fawkes went to.
When did we become so Ameicanized with this Trick or Treat nonsense. Sure in the 60's, (yes I am that old) when I was small person we would go round doors ourselves, no parents, sing a song, tell a joke etc and we got maybe some sweets, fruit etc. Halloween then seemed to become a non event up until about 10/15 years ago when Trick or Treat started. All of a sudden we wanted pumpkins as well.
WHY
Plenty of costumes and paraphenalia on sale in OZ, not much in the way of trick and treaters as stranger danger is taught in schools. There are the occasional groups of 4 to 6 persons which hopefully proves the strength in numbers theory correct.I think it was when retailers realised they were missing a trick and there was money to be made !

No nasty instances but as a parent i always worry.
Morning everyone,
I had a nasty hypo yesterday evening, went down to 2.2. I had a perfectly planned evening meal, I tend to go a little low around 5 pm, so corrected with a banana, and by the time I injected for my evening meal I was on a nice safe 5.1, and I only injected 2 units, and I was sure it was going to go too high, because of the banana.
So I watched it going lower with disbelief, as it just didn't fit the plan, and then I realised I needed carbs. But it went down as far as 2.2. I did start eating carbs when the libre said 4.2, but.............anyway. Post hypo, I calculated I had eaten about 50g of carbs, and as it went up I decided about 3 units would stop it going way to high, the libre shows an almost vertical line, as it goes back up, but the 3 units stopped it going much past 8, and the night was spent in high 6s and 7s. But I don't feel great, it wasn't too pleasant. I just seemed to have a carb eating black hole around 5-7 pm, and I'm not sure what lesson to take from that. I've been staggering my novorapid for the evening meal recently, in a wait and see, sort of way, and almost post bolusing, rather than pre bolusing for that meal, but I thought I'd planned it properly last night, but I think I'll stick with the wait and see approach, it's a lot safer.
Hi Alison, It's awful when it's gets that low, I have them at work, 2 yesterday, but no time to rest for 15 minutes and I lower my lunchtime insulin and when I got home, I was 3.4 ! it's exhausting at times, so sending a virtual hug your way
((((((((((((hug))))))))))))
ps We do things by the book, but unfortunately it just doesn't work out sometimes.
Hope today will be better for you.
