Morning teabags! Had a great night’s sleep with good levels and no alarms, and feeling pretty jolly today.

Having a little trundle to the seaside this morning to meet a friend for coffee, and me and the teenager have a date at the cat cafe in Liverpool this afternoon. Looking forward to exploring “the city I’m from but don’t know very well” with my boy. I was adopted as a baby and got in touch with my birth family a few years ago - so while I’m from here, I don’t know the place very well. It’s an odd feeling - like home, but I’m unfamiliar with the geography. If that makes any sense.

Wishing you all a smooth sailing kind of a day
Enjoy your day in liverppol mel my neck of the woods

I think it was when retailers realised they were missing a trick and there was money to be made !

Definotely, and the same with Morhers Day, Valentines, and all that. The thousands spent on Christmas are staggering too.
I remember apple bobbing too, also an oldie, and playing accident, the one where you’re led blindfolded to dip your hands in a bowl of jelly, pick up a gobstopper or a stick and guess which bit of the body it came from.

Now how old is old? My mum carved a swede which was hilarious, it's just so hard and they aren't that big. What was left, she scrapped the black away and the remaining good bits went into a stew. My stance on what is now occurring is that it's such a dreadful waste of effort and also encouraging kids to think it's OK to ask for stuff they've done nothing for. I also think it might be scary for people who live alone to have people knocking in their doors. There's also the possibility of nasty people pretending to be nice

Ah Guy Fawkes, villain or hero? Always had a soft spot for the guy myself.

When did we become so Ameicanized with this Trick or Treat nonsense. Sure in the 60's, (yes I am that old) when I was small person we would go round doors ourselves, no parents, sing a song, tell a joke etc and we got maybe some sweets, fruit etc. Halloween then seemed to become a non event up until about 10/15 years ago when Trick or Treat started. All of a sudden we wanted pumpkins as well.

WHY

Because it is fun and in this grim world fun is in short supply. We are away in the middle of nowhere with a bowl of choc treats waiting in anticipation. All is quiet, my husband is stepping up and starting to work through them. I have insisted he reserves the choc buttons for our grandson.

We’ve just been visited by a trio of teenage devils who brought a bucket of choc based marshmallows for
the treaters to dip into. Now there’s the true community spirit of hallowe’en- needless to say they each received a second pack of skittles

Plenty of costumes and paraphenalia on sale in OZ, not much in the way of trick and treaters as stranger danger is taught in schools. There are the occasional groups of 4 to 6 persons which hopefully proves the strength in numbers theory correct.
No nasty instances but as a parent i always worry.

Busy night with the trick and treaters here, went out for an hour with the torch to keep watch and sure enough went hypo, so asked the girls for some sweets and was spoilt for choice, best night of the year to have one !

We accompany the kids here so they don’t visit the wrong houses or annoy old people, we only visit houses with pumpkins and decorations and system works well, thank goodness.

Morning y'all, 9.2 waking, I'm sat with a coffee looking at a large pile of multipack sweets on the floor, I got them yesterday when shopping but no-body knocked trick or treating (I wasn't back till later) so that was a waste of time :) but anyway...

Awful night. High before bed so corrected, woke at 2.07 on 2.2. Took forever to come back up. Slept then up at 6.20 to a 10. No idea what is going on at the moment.
New CEO starts today - related?

Morning everyone,

I had a nasty hypo yesterday evening, went down to 2.2. I had a perfectly planned evening meal, I tend to go a little low around 5 pm, so corrected with a banana, and by the time I injected for my evening meal I was on a nice safe 5.1, and I only injected 2 units, and I was sure it was going to go too high, because of the banana.

So I watched it going lower with disbelief, as it just didn't fit the plan, and then I realised I needed carbs. But it went down as far as 2.2. I did start eating carbs when the libre said 4.2, but.............anyway. Post hypo, I calculated I had eaten about 50g of carbs, and as it went up I decided about 3 units would stop it going way to high, the libre shows an almost vertical line, as it goes back up, but the 3 units stopped it going much past 8, and the night was spent in high 6s and 7s. But I don't feel great, it wasn't too pleasant. I just seemed to have a carb eating black hole around 5-7 pm, and I'm not sure what lesson to take from that. I've been staggering my novorapid for the evening meal recently, in a wait and see, sort of way, and almost post bolusing, rather than pre bolusing for that meal, but I thought I'd planned it properly last night, but I think I'll stick with the wait and see approach, it's a lot safer.

Hi Alison, It's awful when it's gets that low, I have them at work, 2 yesterday, but no time to rest for 15 minutes and I lower my lunchtime insulin and when I got home, I was 3.4 ! it's exhausting at times, so sending a virtual hug your way
((((((((((((hug))))))))))))
ps We do things by the book, but unfortunately it just doesn't work out sometimes.
Hope today will be better for you.

Thanks @Robinredbreast going low at work is not very pleasant, makes the job even harder, than it otherwise would be. Hope today is better for you, too.
