I had a school reunion around 5 years ago...The main question people who remembered me was "Are you still diabetic??". I think my facial expression convinced them that I was, indeed, still diabetic lol
I love fused glass, I make silver bugs with dichroic glass bodies.... you never know what you’re going to get!Morning Bird Spotters, Deep Sea Divers, Window Cleaners, Shop Keepers, Very Active Grandparents, SQL debuggers, Pin cushions et al.
My council fight was not too bad yesterday - just need a couple of emails and my sharps bin is booked for early Wednesday morning. Just means I need to remember when I get off my flight on Tuesday (off to the land of Hercules Poirot for a couple of days) to put the yellow bin out.
Today I will be discussing my Medical Exemption certificate renewal form with my local GP surgery receptionist. She is ... let's say ... as you may expect.
I am in awe of the creativity on this thread. reindeer and jewellery are lovely but there is also a great literal creativity from many of the members. Are you sure there are no stand up comedians in the crowd?
Thinking about Mel's jewellery, I met a silversmith earlier in the year on a fused glass course. She was looking for ways to add more to her creations. One of the downsides of fused glass is you don't get to see the finished products until they have been fired but she certainly had an eye for colour combinations and patience to cut the glass. My creations were a little more basic but still wearable and suitable as presents.
On other more cheerful news BSL is in the low 4's so I'm have a rather fun day and going out for a Costa Coffee in a while.
Anyone want to tag along
Quaffing one right now!I like the idea of an imaginary coffee, I'll tag along.
They’re stunning, love the blues! We didn't have the silver fittings (or a chance to make them). So they were a little flatter and squarer.
These were some of my attempts from the day

Could it be that you’re just spectacularly sensitive to carbs first thing? What happens if you skip breakfast or have something like eggs? If I wake up low, like my 3 today, I only need one dextrose tab to bring it back up, whereas later in the day I’d need two or three. For lots of people, mornings need an awful lot more insulin.Afternoon fellow colanders.
Just looking for a wee bit of advice and your thoughts as my morning BG are driving me mad. When I get up in morning around 7am my BG will be around 7, I can live with that. I take my Novoslow at ratio of 1:4, only have 5 spoonfuls of porridge a wee drop milk so around 40g of carbs. If my BG are slightly higher i will take a correction dose and my ratio for that is 1 unit brings me down by 1
I can check my BG around 2 hours later and by this time it will have peaked at around 12 maybe 13, so it has jumped by around 6 steps. Come lunchtime around 12.30, I will do a check and the Libre shows a steady fall after around 2/2.5 hours and it will be back at 7 or where i would expect it to be.
I have tried adjusting the tome I take Novoslow anything from 10 mins to 40 mins before I eat but makes no difference, still get these huge spkikes and this really only happens at breakfast. So possible Dawn P causing some of this
In one sense the fact that it drops back by lunchtime means i am not overly concerned
Any thoughts???
Love the photos you guys are posting you are all so creative
Morning Reindeer Makers, Bulb Planters, Kite Doctors, Fairy God Mothers, Rowers, Jewellers, Uncle Tom Cobbly and all,
@helensaramay love the greeting, all inclusive
My BG had a fun night. I slightly misjudged dinner so had to give myself a correction when I went to bed to bring myself down from 12. Then I woke 5 hours later with a BG of 2.8. Come on!
Noe today's diabetes task (in addition to finger pricking, carb counting and insulin dosing) is to get an appointment for my sharps bin to be collected.
Since pumping, I have been using 5 litre sharps bins (I didn't have any sharps bins before pumping but that's a different story). After about a year of having them collected every 2 or 3 months, I was concerned they were getting filled with plastic cannula inserters which can be recycled rather than sharp things. So, I decided to pull the sharp point out of the cannula inserter to reduce the sharps bin collection frequency and increase my recycling box levels. Eighteen months later and the first non-plastic filled sharps bin is nearly ready to collect. Unfortunately, in that time, the council has forgotten who I am and I have to go back to square one to register that I have diabetes, collect sharps, and want to get rid of them.
I don't think I'll bother telling them the bin also contains safety razors from my partner. I have no idea what he would do with them if I didn't have my yellow bins.
@Robinredbreast sympathies re-restless leg syndrome. Some nights if too bad I actually take paracetamol. It makes me want to burst into tears. Had it since a teenager.
Love to, just give me a minute to swim from Australia !!!School Reunion? I could not think of a worse place to spend 5 minutes of my time than a whole evening unless I had a Molotov Cocktail to share.
Old style 70's grammar school where at least 3 of the former 'master' are spending time in one of Her Majesties Hotels for child abuse. But that is another story for another day.

To add to the thought, "Say it with flowers" perhaps "Say it in glass" - wonderful creations. Is vulcanology in your stars??We didn't have the silver fittings (or a chance to make them). So they were a little flatter and squarer.
