Hi @helensaramay, I think most nail varnish removers are acetone-based. Acetone will attack certain plastics so would be wise to avoid it splashing on one's Libre, pump etc. It is also very flammable and defats the skin terribly.Have you tried the generic "sticky stuff remover"?
Some people call it nail varnish remover which is weird because nail varnish is not sticky once it is dry.
I find I use mine for removing sticky labels and the like more than removing varnish from nails.
That's nails of the finger and toe variety; not the hammering in wall variety. Unless they are covered in sticky stuff, I guess.
Some wins and losses there @Timostags. I know the trials and tribulations of over-correcting and setting off the see-saw of lows and highs. But I do not understand why you have a 1:10 ratio for your basal ??So had my appointment with my DSN today....
I agreed to lower both basal and bolus to their 1:10 ratio - I'm sure this will result in hyper BG's. I have been told not to do any corrections, and to stop scanning the libre all the time. If I get high enough to cause ketones to phone in and they will change it but other than that just leave it be. And have a follow up appointment in 4 weeks with the dietitian
It was explained to me they want to do this to stop the hypos and give them consistent reading to then work out the correct dosages. I am worried that I'm going to spend the next 4 weeks with high BG (and all my work to bring my hba1c down will be lost), but they sold me on the CONSISTENCY word as I feel at the moment there is no consistency in my readings and they think this is due to me being too proactive and trying too hard to constantly keep my BG in my target range.
It's going to be hard to resist the temptation to correct my BG and not to check my Libre regularly, but I have to trust the experts (I actually got a senior DSN brought into the appointment as I kept questioning the original DSN and she wanted some help).
I was also told that they would fund my Libre but only after I have completed the DAFNE course which I'm on a waiting list for.
No I don't have a ratio for basal, it has just been reduced along with the bolus dose. I just didn't structure my sentence well lolSome wins and losses there @Timostags. I will refrain from hugging a lamp post, it's the dogs you know lol and the metal is quite cold too.Like teddy bears, hugs are important. They say 8 hugs a day makes for good health. So hug a person, pet, tree or lamp post !!
