Type 1'stars R Us

@evilclive . I think we need to set up some SOP’s and SSOW’s for @Jaylee . :banghead:

I had absolutly no standard operating procedure in one of my last jobs..
Though I was told off by stage managment for climbing the rig..

I've seen European outfits using chainsaws as "props" & carrying out live pyrotechnics too...?
Then we got casual drug & alcahol use by some.. (Usually waving a sword.)
Low slung Gibsons can cause back issues in the older musician so I'm told.. Lol.;)

The last place anyone wants to be is backstage... Let alone on it. :D

Have you tried the generic "sticky stuff remover"?
Some people call it nail varnish remover which is weird because nail varnish is not sticky once it is dry.
I find I use mine for removing sticky labels and the like more than removing varnish from nails.

That's nails of the finger and toe variety; not the hammering in wall variety. Unless they are covered in sticky stuff, I guess.
Hi @helensaramay, I think most nail varnish removers are acetone-based. Acetone will attack certain plastics so would be wise to avoid it splashing on one's Libre, pump etc. It is also very flammable and defats the skin terribly.
In Australia we use Orange Power Sticky Spot and Goo Dissolver made by Planet Ark. It is made from oranges, a renewable resource. It will leave any oily residue on skin and plastics, which can be removed with soapy water.
If that is too much to carry with one's travelling kit, I rely on the Alcohol-based gel I carry for hand and skin cleansing as a less good alternative.
There are also hand washes in paint and hardware stores designed to remove residual oil and acrylic paint off one's hands.
They can work but contain more chemicals and some contain pumice which may or may not be too abrasive on soft skin.
An example is Septone Eliminator which will lift the materials in paints, resins, sealants, adhesives and body fillers off skin.
It is my go to hand cleaner for supaglue, epoxy glue, oil-based paint and heavy rubber based adhesives and occasionally very sticky dressing adhesives.

So had my appointment with my DSN today....
I agreed to lower both basal and bolus to their 1:10 ratio - I'm sure this will result in hyper BG's. I have been told not to do any corrections, and to stop scanning the libre all the time. If I get high enough to cause ketones to phone in and they will change it but other than that just leave it be. And have a follow up appointment in 4 weeks with the dietitian

It was explained to me they want to do this to stop the hypos and give them consistent reading to then work out the correct dosages. I am worried that I'm going to spend the next 4 weeks with high BG (and all my work to bring my hba1c down will be lost), but they sold me on the CONSISTENCY word as I feel at the moment there is no consistency in my readings and they think this is due to me being too proactive and trying too hard to constantly keep my BG in my target range.

It's going to be hard to resist the temptation to correct my BG and not to check my Libre regularly, but I have to trust the experts (I actually got a senior DSN brought into the appointment as I kept questioning the original DSN and she wanted some help).

I was also told that they would fund my Libre but only after I have completed the DAFNE course which I'm on a waiting list for.
Some wins and losses there @Timostags. I know the trials and tribulations of over-correcting and setting off the see-saw of lows and highs. But I do not understand why you have a 1:10 ratio for your basal ??

No I don't have a ratio for basal, it has just been reduced along with the bolus dose. I just didn't structure my sentence well lol

Morning colander chums.

See I knew this type 1 nonsense was easy. After my usual silly rise of about 5 points in morning after lunch settled down. Good all day and night went to kip on a 4.9. Woke at 4 and it was 4.7 and on getting up at 6.45 now at 4.9. How easy is it , inject insulin eat right amount of carbs and perfect.

Seriously though I do find that if I eat, very little carbs at dinner eg just chicken and veg, my BG tend to go higher overnight. Whereas if I have a little carbs eg last night was small baked potato, about 30g of carbs, my overnights are bettero_Oo_O

Good morning y'all, Libres last day and it said 2.6 when I woke, but I didn't feel hypo and a finger stick says 4.2, technology on a wake up wind up... My little un asked why I was pulling faces when she came downstairs :p

Twas a pretty flat line too :)

Like teddy bears, hugs are important. They say 8 hugs a day makes for good health. So hug a person, pet, tree or lamp post !!

I will refrain from hugging a lamp post, it's the dogs you know lol and the metal is quite cold too.
