what a waste of everyone's time, and how demoralising
On a positive note 5.9 this morning after Chilli and rice last night
Agree about not relying on Libre re hypos; do you think the 13.3 when you woke up could've been due to a liver dump because you were very low?Morning from the unicorn train (on time) to the Big Smoke.
Climbing last night which meant I missed tea and had a scone for supper at about 10:30.
I must have got something wrong - I woke at 4am. LibreReader said 2.7. Glimp say 3.8. I couldn't be bothered to prick my finger so took a couple of GlucoTabs and went back to sleep. Must have got that wrong because I woke at 13.3.
Note to self: practice what you preach and don't believe Libre in the middle of the night.
I have never been to my GP for a diabetes check up. I used to get an invite from them about a month after my (not bad) annual hospital appointment which I politely declined and suggest they read my notes. It was an automatic letter so no one read my notes.
Judging by the limited experience I have had of my surgery, I have very little confidence they know anything about type 1 (the initial diabetes diagnosis was delayed because they thought I had a UTI). But I may accept my next invitation to get a Hb1AC update and confirm my suspicions.
I doubt it as I didn't feel very low when I woke.
I think it was a combination of being too aggressive with my hypo treatment and temporary basal.
I also struggled to get back to sleep and lack of sleep often leads to a high for me.
This was partially due to being unprepared for my trip to London - the stress may have raised my BG.
But I put it down to one of those things I will never know.
I have given up trying to explain every little diabetes nuance and try to focus on trends.
Hi @Mel dCP, Don't you just hate it when someone gets the wrong end of the stick, misreads and takes things out of context. Makes you wonder whether the registrar was just trying to impress his bosses or make himself look important.@slip - that sucks, I’m sorry it was so frustrating. My last clinic appointment was exasperating - I saw a registrar instead of my normal bloke, and he started by telling me how well Tresiba was clearly working for me (he’d got the second to last HbA1c instead of my current one), even though I’d been on the pump for a couple of months by then. I showed him the MySugr printouts I always take, and he wanted explanations for a couple of (not too severe, maybe mid 3mmol) hypos I’d had - one was a gig, one was a wedding, when I’d had a “couple” of glasses of wine, hence the lows. I think one was my birthday, when we were traipsing around Cardiff all day and I’d only had the pod for four days... Anyway, I always request to be copied in on my medical letters, and when it arrived, it had me on all the wrong meds, made me out to be a raging alcoholic, and got the conversion wrong between the new and old HbA1c measures... I’d gone in hoping to have a great discussion with my consultant (he’s aware of my science background, and we talk almost on a peer-to-peer level) about how well my tech was working for me, plus smooth levels with my low carbing, and it was just so disappointing by a patronising know all. Ugh. Anyway, I had a lovely chat with the “diabetes specialist dietician”, who I’ve known for many years and got me my Omnipod PDQ. She loves what I’m doing - she’s seen me at my worst, in the ICU with DKA and an HbA1c of 134; so we’ve really been on a bit of a journey together.
@Cumberland - also thinking of you for tomorrow
Smooth night here, although maybe a little on the low side. Libre has me as in the red all night, but Spike has me in the mid fours. Quite tempted to unhook my Librelink and Diasend accounts so the clinic doesn’t see my “raw” data... and just take Spike/MiaoMiao based printed reports to my next appointment in March!
Those coffee stains, doodles and paw prints add authenticity and character !!Off to an appointment with the DSN this morning to see how the change from novo to fiasp’s going. I appreciate the follow up and will now need to sit down and transfer the last few days’ records to a form that’s easier to follow than the small scruffy notebook full of doodles, coffee stains and paw prints I’ve been carrying round with me.
Love those! It was his first day, so I think he was just a bit over enthusiastic and just launched straight in without double checking his info was right. Either that or he was just rubbish. I’ll be able to tell if I see him again, I suppose...Hi @Mel dCP, Don't you just hate it when someone gets the wrong end of the stick, misreads and takes things out of context. Two things to help - the first to take to appointments when you can see the person is not listening
and the other to prove that unicorns really did exist!! (Sort of)_ And please anyone that likes them help yourself:
