Oh no! Hope you’re not set for a wild ride on the glucoaster today. I suspect Chinese food in China doesn’t contain the sugar it might here, even though your meal doesn’t sound like a particularly sweet one. I suspect the fat content slowed it down, and that would explain the mice bedtime readingWell last night the other half wanted a Chinese. I had beef curry 2 chicken balls and fried rice! at around 7.30 BG before food was 6,8, guesstimated around 150gramms of carbs and bolused for that. All good and well 2 hours later BG 7.1 at 9.30. Thought I had cracked it. Went to bed at 10.30 BG of 7.3 straight arrow. Woke this morning feeling like S**T BG24.8 OOPS! Massive correction bolus with my breakfast and am now on 9.5 with a steady down arrow. Have to think twice about Chionese again OR split bolus with a much higher carb intake. How the hell to Chinese people control T1D????
@porl69 I feel your pain, in your scenario just before bed at 7.3 you feel you don't need extra insulin but you know it's coming
What magic did you have??? Asking for a friendI was awake at 3 am too.
2.9 had some magic then at 5.30am I was 3.8 then some more magic then 3 hours later I'm 10.9.....
Not best pleased but I feel fine.
Have a top day everyone
Tony
i think my honeymoon period is well and truely over .but i must admit i had an easier time when i was in it .im off work this week (picked the right 1 to be off)but when im in work i give myself a bit less bolus as i work in a care home and its non stop and that usually works out fine for me get the initial spike but back in range by next meal .getting bk to your reply maybe your right about pancreas as i cant think of anything else as i wasnt doing anything physical just lolling in the shade this morning i have have bgs of 5.8 b4 brekkie so all good and im not planning on doing much today its absolutely boiling already thanks for support the rower have a great dayYou are most definitely not boring anyone.
I find the hot weather makes me more insulin sensitive, I always struggle to keep levels up, especially when I'm at work.
I think you're doing the right thing not worrying about the 11. See how everything is in the morning.
As you're probably beginning to realise diabetes is anything but predictable.
I notice you're 15 months since diagnosis. I don't know if you've experienced the honeymoon period but,and it's only a but, your teatimes low could have been your pancreas giving a little bit of unexpected insulin. Unfortunately our pancrei don't just cease to function. They can linger on for quite awhile spluttering bits here and there.
Anyway it's all information to store away and take forward, tomorrow is another day.
Have a good nights sleep and enjoy this glorious weather.
snap5.8 this morning and riot act read to endocrine system. It told me it was the one that already had the habeas corpus bit sewn up, so pah, but it was a bit tired after yesterday and would do it’s best today.
Have a lovely day everyone.
i like going to them chinese buffet places were you eat all you can i split my bolus for that as im never sure what im going to eat but i must admit i never guestimate very good but hey ho get bk to decent levels in the endWell last night the other half wanted a Chinese. curry for dinner for ALL SORRY
Not for me! Already lined up a BBQ - hope the weather improves though!
Ha ! @Mel dCP, the 'diabetically boring' day reminds me of Spike Milligan who used to parody a weather reporter on the Goon show: 'Winds light to variable'.Morning friends. Steady night here, a little pottering about took me from my waking six to over eight in a matter of minutes. Thanks, liver...
Kev, glad it went ok yesterday, lovely x
Hope you all have a diabetically boring day, with BGs doing nothing “interesting”
Thank you. @karen8967 . Things are looking up, with some exercise and basal down to + 10%. First cold virus in about 6 years and lasted 3 and a bit days. I swear by regular winter intake of Vitamin D (not C) as a preventive !!I have had a virus bug and put the pump's basal rate up, same for boluses. 30% by day, 20% by night.
Thanks to the 'wonders' of time zones I had to arise at 4.30am here in Adelaide, South Australia to participate in a webinar aired in France.
The advantage was that I could program the pump's basal from 20% to 30% to meet the Dawn (effect !).
Now if my pump was an oven or other device I could 'pre-program' it !!!
