Morning all, smoothish sailing here. Teaching again today, so on the road at 0630 - I’m spotting a nice bit of foot on the floor partway into the journey, but am reluctant to really hammer it properly when I’ve got a long drive ahead. There’s a nice predictable traffic jam halfway where I can do a quick bolus though ;)

Mmmmm. Melted chocklit... :p

Mel, driving, foot to the floor, hammering it.............!

Evening teabags!

A long day in school today, with the worst behaved two classes in the entire establishment. I had to have six children removed from one lesson for fighting, throwing things, breaking equipment and swearing at the learning support assistant. They just don’t give a sh... poo. And their parents don’t care either.

Bloods still running a little high, even with a higher basal rate than I’d normally use for this part of the calendar, no idea if I’m coming down with nothing or not. Don’t think it’s stress, as I don’t get wound up by the feral little monsters. Been running high since Saturday.

Great rant, @helensaramay - I’ve almost left the forum on a number of occasions too, and only really hang out here at the moment. Hey ho. I may raise my head above the parapet and extend my tentacles again soon (enjoy the mixed metaphor)

Good luck for pump day, @porl69 !
I am waiting for the multiverse metaphor !!!
Today's unexpected interest - learning how to apply a libre sensor if the springy thing has gone ping. This wasn't very easy, though it would probably have been better if I'd known which bit had gone ping. The disk came out, so I thought I had to try and rearm the springy bit. Cue much poking of plastic, and even sawing off the top of the applicator so I could free the blue bit. I didn't do too badly, and eventually got it almost together, and was able to press the disk onto the sensor. Unfortunately at that point it all went ping again.
I did however now have the sharp metal inserty bit, so was able to put that into the sensor again, and I then simply manually applied the sensor. Strangely I felt nothing while doing it - obviously pushing it on is slower than the springy bit.
3 hours later and it all appears to be working - that's saved 50 quid or a tedious phone call :)

Hmm, this also probably means I now know how to replace a knocked off sensor. Dismantle the applicator, retrieve the needle, sterilise it, insert through the hole in the top the right way round (practice with a dead sensor?), manually stick on,

(s'pose I should put a note : I don't necessarily recommend doing this...)
Well done @evilclive. Add it to your CV.

4 years ago, I had 2 GPs tell me that I was lying about my 65 years old (at the time of diagnosis) father being T1...which then got amended to an intimation I must have misheard what the hospital staff told him (in my hearing) and followed by I could only possibly be T2 and I just had to accept it.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with them now. Also, that I didn't "just accept it."
Minds are like parachutes. They only work when they are open !!

Hello all, had a bit of a cold these last few days, messed up my time in target, just a week before I go to the hospital. How unfair is that.

Recovering now though, and back in the mood for wasting time on the internet, and realising that being healthier just seems to make wasting time easier. :banghead:

Going to try and do some useful things now.....................

Do you ever get the impression that thinking is over-rated !!

Well after almost 38 years of injections, my time for this is coming to and end. Got the phone call today from DSN advising that someone has dropped out of the insulin pump group, do I want to take their place. Do bears sh it in the woods??? I had been marked for the following group but now to go on 27 February and get my pump. Its for a week before they let me loose on real insulin. And even better its my local hospital and not the one 20 miles away

Time to start searching Youtube for videos on the pump and maybe asking the pumpers on here for some top tips

Good morning everyone have a good day and if you must go out wrap up warm its baltic out there
Hi @karen8967, Baltic ? It is 39 degrees C here in Adelaide ! The temperature in the bedroom, which faces east and has a metallic, insulated roller blind and inner curtain, is 32 degrees C at the moment. We just cool the living room.
Out of fridge insulin is in that bedroom in a cooler bag with ice brick. The heat has contributed to a rash on my skin under the adhesive tape of the just superseded pump cannula.
Oh the joys of summer !!!
