Hey @Mel dCP next time you change and want a small car keep an eye out for either an Alfa Romeo Mito, small and nice or one of those Fiat 500 TwinAir, yes yes I know but they are a hoot to drive, go like stink and not bad mpg.

No idea if there are diesel versions mind you, the last car I got I went from (before I got the Alfa) a Mini to a small economical cheap to run car.....

Which was a 3.5litre CLS Merc diesel :hilarious:, which a nice place to be on a Monday morning in a traffic jam :)

Well I like @karen8967 coffee meme but really should be a bit more real and diabetic friendly, so here is one I just made :)

Doubt I’ll find one on my usual budget - this thing cost me the grand total of £850 :D

Despite being a chef until he retired, the old guy is unlikely to go near a gas stove. When he is not smoking, he sits on the sofa with the tv on as loud as it will go whilst his poorly wife waits on him.
I am concerned about them but they do not live alone. Their son lives with them and is not a fan of mine as he is incredibly loyal to his father. To be honest a chocolate teapot puts him to shame regarding the contribution made to the welfare of his parents and society in general.
It is a difficult situation which their neighbours discuss (I am not the only victim of his crimes - thankfully, he has not taken to peeing up my wall), and we are in agreement at the moment. They need assistance but it should come from their family who are well aware of their circumstances rather than, what will be seen as, a load of busybodies.
Hi @helensaramay, I understand your point of view. The tip-over point is perhaps when there is risk of them getting in harm's way like a ciggie setting the house on fire and when the family continue to ignore the obvious. Not easy!! I recall having to report some neighbours because of similar circumstances but their house was so crammed with whatever that it was possible fire-hazard. The local fire brigade inspected and things went from there.

I’d prefer a DB9. Go big or go home, right? But currently shopping on a certain well known internet auction site for some vinyl ravens to stick on it. Might as well goth it up a bit, eh? The temptation to spray the whole thing matt black is never far away...
Please stay with the idea of purple @Mel dCP. Gotta have your signature colour! Or compromise with this little fella's hue.

Good morning lovely people!

Yesterday I decided to do the long walk planned for the First Saturday of February Half Term 2018 which got scuppered just ever so slightly last year by this starting on insulin and adjusting my mindset from T2 to LADA malarkey. Yep, a whole year as of yesterday.

"Don't think the clinic sees many diabetics of any variety doing walks of that length?" commented GP when I was reporting back on the clinic visit of a couple of weeks ago, where I'd frightened the registrar with mention of such activity. And induced panic because she didn't know what to suggest lowing my insulin by - I pointed out relatively gently that her suggested figure of 20% didn't really work with my usual amount of units for a midday meal (around 3 or 4) with a pen which only dispenses one unit at a time, and that really she didn't need to worry as I'd got the hang of what works on a regular basis. (Apart from the week I wore more green socks than usual or had started a new batch of Novorapid and landed home several nights running on 3.9/3.8 which was what she was panicking about.)

Interesting to look back and see how much easier going out for that kind of walk is now and how much more instinctive my working out if I need insulin with unknown meals if mid walk has become. Possibly missing the weight training of carrying a packed lunch/dinner with me on long walk days, but definitely enjoying the freedom to eat out much more easily.

Anyway, apart from the low feeling as I moved bus stops away from the elderly gentleman (I use the term loosely) who felt it necessary to poke me in the bum with his walking cane because I wasn't instantly responding to him (there were others at the bus stop, I had my back to him so wasn't aware he was talking to me, I was definitely dropping and tend to go quiet whilst I'm thinking what to do), a perfect day on the blood sugars front, with only one additional snack needed. My calculations, not the registrar's, were used. Elderly Gentleman was given the full and loud version of my opinion of his unacceptable behaviour.

Good morning fellow prickler's and wishing you a Happy Sunday.
Blue skies and sun here :)
I had a nice afternoon out yesterday, down by a canal, it was cloudy and a bit chilly, but a nice change. Watched a barge go by from the small bridge, then had a coffee and after that a walk
