That is a hypo avoidance tactic... Not a good hypo avoidance tactic, but a tactic nonetheless!
Better stuff our faces with marshmallows/jelly babies/other noms of your choosing just to be on the safe side.
It’s a tictac, that’s for sure. I’d rather run at normal levels and pop a dextrose tab if I need to!

Me too!
One of the DSNs at my hospital told me she's seen people quite often who have their first bad hypo and then always run high for the fear of having another! Can't bring themselves to allow it to run lower.

On a different note, does anyone find their Libre sometimes aches? Put a new one on Thursday evening, and I think it must have hit a nerve. I’m very conscious that I can feel it, it aches a bit. Hope it subsides, it’s quite uncomfortable.

I'm new to this Libre thing but first one I had was on my inside left arm and by 10 o'clock that night I was ready rip it out, really uncomfortable and like you felt it was nudging the muscle. 2nd one failed after. a few days and the one I currently have is high on my right under arm. Everytime I scan it people think I am sticking deodorant on. Saying that it is now comfy and I don't feel it.

Interesting, I've had some really bad hypo's, couple that needed para medics, another story, but still does not stop me trying to run low all the time.

Experiences like the recent one our dear @Robinredbreast is recovering from put the fear of god(s) into most people, it’s not surprising many T1s go out of their way to avoid even a mild hypo. The only one I’ve ever had that needed paramedics was this January, when in a rush I got the dry and cooked weights on a packet of pasta mixed up, and injected for the dry weight - basically 50% more than I needed. Didn’t need any intervention other than gel, but it was scary. That was pretty much what made me decide to go low carb... I like the “small numbers” thing. Less carbs means smaller doses, means less chance of hypo. I am (probably unhealthily) obsessive about tracking how much IOB I have in two separate apps on my phone, so I’ve got a rough idea of the lowest it’s likely to fall at any given time. But as bodies don’t always obey the maths, it doesn’t always work. Hasn’t stopped me from aiming for non-diabetic levels though.

<keto evangelist alert> One thing I have found with keto though (forgive me if it sounds like I’m banging on about it) is that hypos feel very different. They come on very slowly on the whole and I don’t get the panic and overwhelming need to eat everything in sight, although I do get the other symptoms like cold sweats, tingly lips etc. I think because my brain is now ketone fuelled rather than glucose fuelled, it’s still rational enough to know that I need a spot of glucose to bring my body up to normal levels, but it’s all very calm. Just an “Oh, I’m a bit low. Best sort that out” kind of thing. Very matter of fact. </keto evangelist alert>

My worst hypos (still pretty mild no paramedics or anything) have been caused by takeaways... I suspect there is a lesson to be learnt there but I don't want to hear it

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder @Mel dCP but no delusions allowed. Your husband, parents all think you are beautiful and they ARE RIGHT !!! The verbiage used by the PM sounds like American English and slang. If he really is diabetic then he is an outlier on the scale (and that word outlier is pretty close to what he is - an outright lier).

As long as you were not abducted by aliens that is OK !!

Sorry to hear that soldier. Nasty thing to have and so glad you are recovering. And I hope the hospital will teach your family about the coma position - a position to put/hold an unconscious person in to try and avoid it happening again. Your daughter deserved Hugs +++++++++++++++++.

Aw, thanks lovely <3 I had a look at his fb profile before I blocked him, seems to be a Brit with some nasty political leanings. Quite the misogynist. Just a shame that T1s seem to think it’s acceptable to bully others publically. Hey ho.

In other news, finally got back into the 5s. Woohoo!

Hehe that made me chuckle...pancreatically challenged
.
Same as you I support Wales and whoever is playing England
.

I genuinely don't know whether I can watch this match... the adrenaline induced spike on my Libre graph from watching the penalties last week was bad enough what is today gonna do to it

Wow lots to catch up with.

@Robin- So sorry to hear what you have been going through.

@Mel- cannot believe some of the jibberish he was coming out with. Glad you have blocked him. He is not worth your time.

BG - 3am test showed I was in the 8’s. With a correction I woke up at 5.6.

Feeling more stressed than usual with work deadlines so bloods have gone from 5 to 8 pretty quickly. Stress = unplanned (unhealthy) snacking so now in double figures. Grr

Quick acting on board.

And then the washing machine decided to leak all over the kitchen floor *banghead*

This is not how I imagined my Saturday would go!

edit: Maybe a blessing in disguise. Now the kitchen is out of bounds I can’t get to my snacks

The miscreant owes you x amount of insulin that you needed to bolus in to deal with the adrenaline surge. A blood pressure tax, replacement of any paper scorched by the intense visual stare whilst reading over his posted tripe and replacement of computer keys melted in one's blocking manouvre. Glad the sugars are normal and not hypo !!

Happy return to the nest !

I nearly melted my iPad.... but never mind. At least I don’t have to live in his brain for the rest of my life.

Down to the mid fours now, but about to have a mahoosive king prawn and avo salad while I studiously ignore the football

I think I need to start a thread on Diabetes Blopers (if there is not one already). I could sure fill up some posts on it !
Latest: kite fly of the month tomorrow, Thinks: tonight- - better make some fittings up for the new home-made kite to suit the predicted weather. Gets fittings made up and, because it is less than 24 hours away from flying, use super glue rather than epoxy glue, to hold them together and reinforce them..
Things get busy and I am in creative mode which puts all other thought into the denial box.
Result: I have dried super glue over my fingers, including the areas I use for finger pricks !
Remedies: 1)Writes note to self .... Do not .....
2) Proceeds to go on bended knee to my wife and promise all sorts of things in order to borrow her nail varnish remover..
3) signs written contract about promises (just joking but she has threatened this)
3) The acetone in the remover partially works. Lots of scrubbing, sand papering ahead.
Future deterrent: if I repeat this error, my nails are to be painted a colour of her choice !!!
Saying: The eyes are windows to the soul, and my nails let you know when I have boo-booed.
Night all, from muggins here.

Didn’t they invent superglue as a skin repairer in the Vietnam war for mending soldiers in the field? I often use it on cuts, topped with insulating tape (or gaffer tale if it’s more serious!) - stings a bit but does the job.
