Good morning, it's dark and dismal here and still raining, roll on the 'summer'. Have a good day everyone and take care out and about.

People whose attitude says "Me, my opinion, my desire is greater and more important than anyone else"

And to whom the principle of ahimsa is a closed book that they refuse to open because it would make life more difficult for them.
Morning guys - yep, it's still hammering down here too. Yesterday evening we had such prolong thunder that both dogs got worried and ended up huddled up with me on the sofa. Usually they're gutsy as anything but it just went on and on.

Still - when it stops raining the pavements will be nice and clean downtown - all the greasy smells washed away. People walk along eating their hot food, drop bits which get trodden on and splattered into the pavement. There's a definite "tourists are here" smell to the town that the rain washes away for a while. (I don't blame them - a lot are campers, poor souls, and just want a hot bite and it's raining so they hang around going from shop to shop, occasionally stopping off at the fast food places for takeaway).

Hugs for snotty people (wearing my haz-mat suit of course), and also for @MeiChanski and her appointment.

Long day at work today but am thinking hard about tomorrow's cooking - gonna do a deep dish quiche (dinner), some crackers for dips, more tofu and I have found a super "cheesey" dip that I want to have a bash at for lunch.

Morning all. Miserable here too but only drizzling. Slept really well for the first time in a few days, just waiting to see where I’m going today! Woke up on a 4.2 but took 0.95u to try and nobble the foot on the floor. Currently 3.8 but it’ll come up. Don’t let me down, liver!

Good lock for today @MeiChanski - will be thinking of you! How are the travel bands working, @Robinredbreast ? Hope they’re doing the trick.

Morning all, hideous afternoon yesterday, sorry I missed the birthday party, thanks again @Robinredbreast.

Got rained off clearing the ex-rockery yesterday, looks like today won'tbe much better and I have a heap of paperwork I need to deal with....not a day to look forward to particularly. Still at least I don't have a cold, get well those of you who do and @Knikki you don't have to be so generous that you share everything....

Morning all, wet here too, very wet last night but managed to walk the dog in between down pours - didn't have to dry the dog and very satisfying to sit down afterwards and hear the rain pelting against the windows!

BGs have been excellent - mind you with the change of season to Autumn suspect things will change :hilarious:

Am I the only one whose escaped the wet weather this morning?
Makes up for Friday night I guess, during which a river started forming on the street outside my house running down and off into a field at the bottom.

Bloods reasonably steady, 8.8 afore bed with 1u to knock it back and 7.7 on the other side of a good sleep (and another correction to see me on the morning drive). :)

Hope your appointment goes better than expected @MeiChanski, your break to France is relaxing @helensaramay, you manage to shift your cold without infecting all those nearby @Knikki, your RileyLink turns up quick sharp @Mel dCP and sorry to hear your Libre was denied @slip, did they tell you why they feel you didn't meet the criteria?

Hello friends, I woke up on 3.9, but downed hypo treatments and breakfast and made it to my appointment with 15 mins to spare. It took the nurse almost 10 mins to get my blood pressure, the machine didn’t like me. I forgot the blood pressure machines give one hell of a good squeeze. Consultant said I needed to implement different ratios from now (He thinks I am not proactive enough, but mistakes happen though? Like unforseeable activities, I didn’t ask my bf to get drunk and vomit everywhere :( He thinks cleaning doesn’t take 15-20 mins, I’m like have you tried cleaning vomit? ) which I will try and get the boat sailing. He said he is worried that I’m scared of running a little bit high, of course I am. Every type 1 diabetic knows high BG and anything nearing DKA is not nice, whether it happened few months ago or 10-15 years ago. I’ll never forget the time I was rushed into hospital. However I understand him that going hypo for a long time isn’t doing me any favours. To conclude I got a little bag of goodies, consultant didn’t blink and said he’ll prescribe me 2 libre sensors and fiasp. He didn’t explain any terms like improving hba1c within 3-6 months or anything. But he strongly highlighted that I must try different ratios and reduce hypos.

Could anyone explain Fiasp to me in potato terms please. Consultant said it lasts the same as novorapid but it gets to work much much quicker and I can take it before meals instead of waiting. He thinks I was a bit silly about the meal out for my bf’s birthday. I mean I know if food isn’t coming, don’t take insulin. But my inner instinct said you don’t prebolus for pasta, you are going to suffer.

I've been using Fiasp coming up on 2 years now. It halved my pre-bolus timings across the board throughout the day. I also found an increased need for split bolusing and, at times where I can, splitting the injection between sites for mixed absorption (instead of some splits).

I find if I take a big dose that Fiasp comes on very strong when it peaks (for example a decent sized correction can see double down arrows quite quickly that make me second guess at times if the landings gonna stick). I don't personally see much of a tail and find it's done 95%+ of it's work after 3 hours.

YMMV with all that though. The point I'm trying to make is that it is indeed quite fast for some people.

@MeiChanski Fiasp is Novorapid with a "booster" added to it. When I first started on it, it was working pretty much straight away, I tend not to pre bolus so much now. Now it seems to take around 15-20 mins to start to work. Its lasts for me around 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Thank you, that is indeed a speedy delivery. What a time to be alive. So 5-10 mins before meals, depending on carbs? Do you know when it peaks and does it last the 4-5 hours like novorapid?

When I first used it, I would bolus just as I started to eat!

My suggestion would be to try it and titrate up or down from there. I still need to pre-bolus, but not the 45 minutes before breakfast I was on with Novorapid. Mine varies throughout the day between 10-25 minutes depending on what and when I'm eating.

@MeiChanski I see others have responded about Fiasp.
I prefer pictures so I will just add this to the discussion ...

The solid line is the strength of Fiasp over time and the dashed line is NovoRapid.
You can see they run out at the same time but Fiaps peaks much earlier.
So my consultant wasn't chatting rubbish then, I was told by my previous consultant that Fiasp doesn't last as long as novorapid and it was mostly prescribed to children. :banghead:

How's your afternoon going ? I am just having another cuppa before I get picked up by escort driver. I bought some books and toys,( a doll and some cars, a bunny too) from charity shops today, which I hope will occupy the children and the children will like them. I have been taking some of my own soft toys and baby Cleo's books, but I would prefer them to have their own toys for the bus journey.
Found a pink and white teddy at the side of a road yesterday very near a farm, as the driver wanted to pick up some fresh eggs, so I got out and into the pouring rain and rescued the dirty and sodden teddy and now she is so clean and bright, I just couldn't leave it there.

Very happy fiasp user here! I don't prebolus anymore (did 45 minutes on novorapid), or only occasionally with 20 minutes when I'm on the high side to start. The second big win for Fiasp is that I see if I dosed about correctly a lot sooner and take a correction dose before going too high. On Novorapid I always waited for hours, in case the insulin hadn't kicked in yet.

@slip I can relate to the joys of missing the rain for dog walking - had two appalling evenings last week when the whole thing was cut short due to what I heard described as 'biblical rain' - the dog was cowering and no-one was having fun.

Not so keen on you mentioning autumn - it's not even July yet!
