I find this an interesting equation too. Though the study of it is difficult, as the supply of greenish bananas in my local Tesco's is variable. Sometimes they are all very dark green, sometimes all yellow.

Also, the green banana bought yesterday, may be yellow in the morning.

I too have this dilemma on the banana aisle, I'm one of those oddballs who just wants the one banana and will pick up many bunches to find the right looking one at the required size :) before snapping it off this is a daily thing mind :p and putting it in my basket.

It's bananas and around 20g carbs (said my consultant)....

BANANAS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bananas are great, love 'um, probably would miss bananas more than most other foods.
Most annoying thing about bananas though is that **** stringy, sinewy, thready bit that runs the full length and you only realise it's there when you've taken a bite.:banghead:

I switched from Lantus to Levemir about a month ago. I like it a lot better, but I've been finding I need a slightly higher evening dose, than morning dose. I recently pushed it up to 8 at night, and 6 morning. It seems to be less erratic at that level, though it did feed into the morning sugars making them a bit lower. So I've had to use banana power to go out and get stuff done. Whereas before it would be a comfortable high 7s, or low 8 that I could walk off easily.

I'm not a fan of basal tests, as to me it's only a snapshot, but I based my guesstimate on the daily patterns freestyle libre graph, because the night time section was clearly higher.

I am definitely waking up higher than my bedtime reading. I was putting it down to being ill- so will see if it settles before I increase my evening dose. I suffered from 2-3 hypos most nights/evenings with Lantus. The Levemir has been much more stable.

I need to pay more attention to the patterns on my libre

Banana’s are great for exercise, slow release. I remember the press getting excited when one of the Wimbledon cheesecakes revealed he had them to see him through a match.

Yes I find Levemir more stable too, much easier to predict how it’s going to behave, and fewer night time hypos.

Your input is super valuable @kitedoc but sometimes the banana is just the easiest option, because changing levemir or bolus dosage can have an impact further down the line, a few hours later, whereas a banana has less impact.
Yep Flexibility is key !! And in theory a banana in the tummy is like ballast, it might keep you from rolling too much side to side as you swim., more efficient. 'Nuff said.!!! naval architecture is not my forte.

I recall when my eldest daughter was 3 years old. We were in Queensland which is tropical enough to have lots of banana trees including one where we were living. I chopped off a bunch of bananas and left them inside hanging up to ripen.
Over several days we noticed the number of bananas in the bunch was diminishing. The branch was well above our daughter's height.
The next day we saw our daughter siting down under the branch, when a banana fell from the branch. Yes, she had worked out when the bananas were ready to eat !!

Evening all! Just got back home from the most fabulous weekend, a gig from my favourite musician and band of all time, complete with hugs, photos and autographs, an impromptu invite to a BBC Radio Wales recording complete with bar tab (drank my licence fee in Pinot Grigio), followed by a day at a little festival outside Marlborough, another gig/signing/hugfest from my fave musician/band, more wine (eek). Lovely day pottering round the Cotswolds today, and just got back home.

Diabetically speaking, it’s been... interesting. Adrenaline induced highs. Wine induced hypos. Mid gig injections. Managed to stay allergy friendly keto without feeling deprived, I suspect my rubbish pile at the festival was the most hipster ever - empty feta pack, olive tub, vegan Quorn wrapper and avocado shell... :D

Been really suffering in the heat, I have to confess. Hope you’re all well <3

Well another weekend draws to a close. It's been as good as it could be. Running around 12 all afternoon, no idea why, nothing untowards but the correction seems to be kicking in, albeit at novoslow pace.
Big check up day tomorrow. See where I'm at.:woot::woot: on the HbA1C front.
Half day at work tomorrow, so every cloud has a silver lining:):)
Take care all.

Another lovely sunny day and all went well until this evening. Gentle, in range curves on the libre; made 5 pots of lovely tart gooseberry jam from the £1 worth - 1.5k of fruit I got from the market stall that was packing up, and unlike my usual efforts it’s the consistency of proper jam; then lifted spare borage to give to friends and spread cheer to bees. A slow, old-fashioned happy day.
Then I knocked off my sensor coming through the kitchen door. All similarity to a fuzzy-screened nostalgic depiction of an idyllic rural past was shattered and the neighbours had to cover their children’s ears.
Belly Bum Drawers!

Yep Monday's here and it is already midday in the sunburnt land of Oz. ( I slept in, one of the perks of having a pump !!)
Do any of you get really hungry when your bsls get to the 9 to 12 mmol/l range?
I feel a tad shaky, irritable and think : It this a hypo?
If I indulge that thought without testing my BSL first, I pay for it later.
If I reach the 13 + mmol/l I still feel irritable but the appetite has gone.
What is this hunger about? I try to eat protein as a way to assuage the hunger without pushing the BSL up too much later.
Perhaps the symptoms are so much like a hypo that I am psychologically better soothed by carbs ??
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
No sympathy votes please. I am long ernough in the tooth to know better about my condition and how to handle it!!!

@kitedoc . Good morning ( 5 a.m. here ).
You are definitely not alone with the false hypo thing.
I get it quite often, usually at work. I'll be busy doing something when suddenly realise I feel that very empty inside sensation along with that sudden need for carbs. All the little markers for going low seem to appear. Check my BS and ****, I'm sitting around 9 or 10. Most annoying aspect is that for a brief few minutes I'm looking forward to a little, unplanned snack:banghead:.
Have a good day.

A real tease !! Maybe it is an early warning signal that our bodies are losing out on available glucose (? starvation) but our liver is blocked from releasing or making glucose as a remedy until we reach the 14 mmol/l mark ??? I wonder whether those on low carb or other diets experience the false hypo thing as much ??
