A simulation ap for T1d? I could loop the loop in a 747 on my lads flight sim but expect a real plane might react differently :P

7.6 for lunch and working just around the corner, @Mel dCP I use a one cup Bialetti stove top a couple of times a day, and warm milk in a cup before whisking it :) @Knikki yeah, stewed about sums their coffee up but it's a lot better than Burger Kings:p

Morning everyone,

Changed sensor yesterday evening, and so of course I had a bit of a hypo problem soon after. So the sensor was not yet reliable, and I had to do loads of finger prick tests, and didn't get to sleep until gone 2 am.

But anyway, it was just a bit annoying, not much more than that, really.

I did some walking up hills yesterday, this isn't super impressive hill walking, I didn't walk the Munros, or anything, just a few very small hills in Edinburgh Old Town, the Pleasance was the peak, but I have to start small. That might be why my blood sugar went a bit weird last night.

I decided to keep a diary, because I can't walk very far without a downward arrow appearing on the Libre, which is a bit of a nuisance. I used to walk much more, but to do it I kept my blood sugar higher, and I've long past the point where I want to do that, but on the other hand I still want to go walking.

Have you tried say a 'rich tea' biscuit as a small carb snack (7g or so) for your walks? I ask as I often but not always need to 'carb load' for training, so I go from the current trend and use small amounts of carbs spaced out (the carbs, not me :P ) if needed, a biscuit 15 mins beforehand and then a Dextrotab if it appears to be wanting to drop off.

I’ve got a 12 cup one :D Had it for Christmas, the Bialetti ones are just brilliant. We buy a 1.15kg can of ground coffee for less than £9 in Costco, which lasts our family of three about a month. It’s the cheapest way I know to make amazing coffee, and no pods to dispose of. We’ve got Contigo travel mugs which are perfect for taking it out and about. I may be cheap but I have high standards ;)

I feel posh now as I spend 12 quid a month on me and my coffee :) :p there's a local roaster near me so I get 2 types of freshly roasted coffee, a Vietnamese one ground for the stovetop and half a kilo of Honduran beans so I've a choice of the cafetiere too. Tetley tea otherwise and on an evening

Alison I am the same as you, I love walking and combine this with photography/birdwatching thrown in to keep it interesting, but don't let me near a hill. Just gentle walks maybe 8/10 miles preferably on the flat. Like you if I go walking my Libre shows downwards arrow quite soon, so I have to top this up with some chocolates, mmmm.

Had another great night, staying between 4.5 and 6 all night. Woke up to a 4 which is a bit low for my liking, but did not panic. had my muesli and just took my levemir. Waited till I got to work 30 mins later and took my Novorapid, as BG was now around 6. Checked a couple of times and it had shot up to 11.1 around 10.00am. Now at 1 pm I am sitting at 3.9 and going down.

Back onto the rollercoaster I go, good job I have a season ticket!!!

I have, I've used many different things, I carb loaded with a cereal bar, today, but it doesn't stop me being annoyed that I have to, though.

Going back to some conversations about HCPs pretending to be T1D - there must be a phone app out there that simulates being T1D - can you imagine one where you do have to do a fingerprick test before eating, and every so often when the HCP enters a normal BG value it changes it to some thing random, oh and they can't complete the process and eat until they've figured out the carbs and dose and correction and preempt activities and the weather and the moon and the planets and the star alignments............! Oh and at random times just keeps beeping to tell them they are hypo then they have to tell it what they would do about that.

Theres got to be an app..................somewhere!

Evil!! Love it! Soooo many uses.

Oh it was going to well :banghead:

Running OK till about 2 hours ago when went to 8.9 and up OK leave and watch, an hour later 12.4 and up so in goes 4units of Aspidistra check again about 30 minutes later up at 14.2 so in with another 4 units. :dead:

Consulsion:

Apidra is more aggressive than Nova and needs to be injected as per guide lines.
Spike will occur sooner then later when, again, compaired to Nova.

Apidra may need less injected to bring a spike down (watch this space) currently at 8 units I would be twice more than that with Nova.

For me, it certainly does not hang around in the body long and this and yestedays observation I think I might metabalise this stuff way way quicker than Nova.

Will I crash after all this?

Proabably :bag:

Might also start pushing Lantus up as well in the morning :bored:
Don't give in the 'buyer's remorse' yet !!

Morning all, sorry to hear about the Eeyore gloominess. I woke up on a 4.9, just having a late start to the day with some coffee brewed in my gorgeous Italian stove top moka pot. A pint of espresso should see me right. Turned the pump down by 50% for half an hour too.

Going to be doing a spot of painting in the bedroom today - dark purple around the window surround so the inevitable black mould doesn’t show quite so much in between cleanings. My walls are two feet thick, so it’ll take a little while, it’s a deep alcove!

I also say cawl to rhyme with owl, but I loathe soup so it’s not really an issue ;)
Are you going to drop the basal a tad for the exercise involved in painting or um, suck it and see '?

Nar just a case of learning something new.

Well bottomed out at 2.8 and the drop is certainly quicker than Nova and less severe as yes I guess i was in Hypoland but felt fine, no cold sweats and could still think straight :)

So leason to be learnt:

When I see Etch A Sketch at 8 or above and pointing up drop a couple of units of Apidra in which should catch it.

Stick 8 units in over a period of 2 hours will crash me, however this is way less than I was doing with Nova.

Still learning :)

Nah, I’ve just upped it a little as I was running a bit high. And I’ve not broken a sweat, plenty of tea breaks ;)

Rather than take my first day simple program and start from scratch tweaking it, I’ve duplicated the sharkweek basal profile and knocked everything back by a third (more or less), as I’d got that finely tuned to different times of day and it was working well. Should be a bit less fiddling to do... hopefully.

Today has improved.
Firstly, today's blackberry did not make me screw my face up as if I had just sucked on an unripe lemon.
Secondly, and most exciting, a purple jiffy bag arrived in the post today.
I instantly knew who it was from and now am the very proud owner of a backup blue half unit NovoEcho Pen.

Thank you very very much @Mel dCP .
If my pump dies again, I shall think of you.
In a positive way.
I’m thrilled it got there ok, and hope you never need it, but am glad to know you’ve got one in case x
