Type 1'stars R Us

Anyone else find that Levemir’s a bit flaky with even small change of ambient temperature?

Morning.

Woke up slighter higher than usual so gave 1 unit correction with my usual 1.5 foot on the floor dose.

Ended up hypo within an hour. With lots of insulin on board. A pain as now I have not been able to drive myself to work. And still waiting for my sugars to be in a safer range before I drive.

Starting to notice a bit of a pattern.

Give my usual 1.5 dose (to stop me shooting up to the stars) at 6.30am. By 8 am I am usually trending down (not always low but dropping).

Any tips? Do I need to delay this waking dose? Maybe by half an hour? So if I am to dip it is when I am already at work?

If I go without the 1.5 units I shoot up. If I reduce it I also get a quick rise with my sugars.

Guess tomorrow morning is another day of experimenting?

Edit: 4.1 now with an upward arrow

Hi @CranberryIce . What a nuisance for you.
Have you considered trying something along the lines of a spoon of peanut butter when you have your 1.5 shot?
Just a small amount. It may just stop the drop you seem to have.
I’m a bit of a PNB freak, other high good fat, slow absorbing options are available :)

Apart from that i hope you have a good day.:)

Your feet just looked like they were in motion at the time of the photo. Riverdance was the first thing that sprung to mind ( probably not something I should admit to:) )
Hope the hypo gear kicks in soon.

Yeah my friend was taken the image and the ISO on his camera was on the low side so it was probable a longish shutter speed so if was moving my feet then it would pick that up.

Hypo stuff kicked in and found myself about half an hour later with a 5.9 and straight up arrow on the Etch A Sketch so dumped about 2 units in plus Long Acting and every thing was krushty over night :)

@Mel dCP Yep check the crumble my way will gladly munch it and take the hit later on :joyful::cool:

@therower Sod the hypo just pass the crumble :hilarious:

Morning All

Another day in the corps battling stupid servers and databases plus listening to Prince Fatty Versus The Drunken Gambler :headphone:

Has anyone worked out the relative cost of keeping a dog vs running CGM

CGM = relatively cheap, known expenditure each month
DOG = Mels cat expensive! when requiring the to see their form of a doctor!

Who said Crumble? Apple and blackberry as well!

Picked up some apples during yesterday mornings dog walk to go with the Sunday roast pork, I should have picked up more for a crumble!

@Scott-C @Knikki & @porl69 Sorry boys, it was keto. 6g carbs for this massive portion. I think I may need to start dosing for salmon, going to experiment with that.

But if you want the recipe:

Two big courgettes, peeled and chopped - yes really. They make an amazing apple substitute, it’s the lemon and stewing spices that make it so realistic.
8 frozen blackberries
Some erythritol sweetener - I used about 4 tbsp, but I like it sharp.
2tbsp lemon juice
2tsp Yuzu (if you like sharper apple flavour)
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Allspice

Boil up until courgette is soft and most of the liquid has boiled off. About 45 minutes, they release a lot of juice. I used a hefty iron casserole Le Creuset type thing, so it could go in the oven as well.

For the crumbly stuff:

30g almond flour
25g hemp hearts/crushed pecans
15g coconut flour
30g erythritol
30g butter/coconut oil
Cinnamon

Mix to a breadcrumb consistency, top the “fruit” and bake until brown, about half an hour in a fairly hot oven, around 180C. @kev-w - shall I add this to the t1 food thread, or is it not carby enough? ;)

Had to do another correction at 1am, so upping the basal again tonight. Once that was dealt with, I’ve been in the 6s ever since. Quiet day today, making bagels, bandanas and hair scarves. And drinking coffee. Oh, and doing some of the online training modules for my first responder thing - all my checks and references have gone through ok, and I’m on the way!

Have a tolerable Monday, friends ❤️

I had a cracking time in Lyon, great food, fab cheeses, bread.................. I just had to eat it along with plenty of wine and a few beers. Lots of walking kept BG nicely in range so I found it quite odd to wake this morning to 3.4.
2 fruit pastilles and stole a Belvita biscuit to rectify. I want to go back to the warm there but instead I'm off to town now to hunt for cheese, looking for some Hereford Hop. Need to lose weight!!
Hope everyone's well

Looks really tasty Mel :joyful:

Good morning y'all :) better for me as I've had a flattish line all night, bit low at 4.2 at the lowest but I'll take it. oh and my bolus has only taken 20 mins to start working.

I was a little despairing by yesterday as I didn't expect as many highs but then again I guess that's why it's called a chronic illness, good luck with your swim @becca59 and I hope it drops your blood back down.

Oh :) and happy Monday

EDIT, go me :) 34 years T1D today.
Happy 34 years kev

Talking of Fruit Pastilles, I came across this yesterday.
Whilst searching for it this morning, Google suggested I may want to know "How many fruit pastilles does it take to choke a kestrel?" I was more intrigued by how Goggle came up with this question than what the answer is.
How many? Now I need to know, you never know when this type of info will come in handy

Mels cat to the weather, my working day didn't last that long and there'll be some not that happy at being cleaned in the rain customers, but my bloods have been ok, a little rise after first course of breakfast so didn't eat any bread, a slope down from not eating the bread let me eat it, and a couple of handfuls of nuts just then 5.6, I think I'll get the gym done nowish as I've the little un here for 10 days so will have a busy evening when she gets home from school....

If this is a sign of things to come I'll happily take it :)

It’s just occurred to me that I’m hungry. Have chucked some veg in the oven to roast, and am making vegan keto bagels for later to have with smoked salmon and duck eggs. The psyllium husk powder I use makes them go a nice deep shade of purple :smug:
