Morning all from a frosty Hampshire. Went to bed on 6.3 and awoke on 5.7 top banana  Pebbles cat is wanting to go out, she didn't first thing because she saw some of the white stuff, be it only frost :cat::hilarious: More tea beckons, so have good day and a safe one too :)

Morning

Well the white stuff turned up round our way, covered the trees and bushes as well, however it appears that the gritters were not out last night, so getting out of the village and even through the local small town was "interesting" :hilarious:

Get to work and hardly any snow around ~sigh~

BSL being bit of an ar53 at the moment a fighting a bit of a upward slant never mind...…..

Who's going to build a snowman/woman first? :hilarious:

No idea what minus figure we hit last night (the ground was frozen rock solid on this morning dog walk) but the wife let the dog out in the middle of the night via our bedroom patio doors and went back to sleep, then me getting up usual time and closing said door - I thought the days of waking up with ice on the inside of the windows had long gone...........! At least it proves the duvets a good'un.

BGs been fairly steady, sensor had been alright.........more on that later.

Good morning all. Well no snow here YET! I know we WILL get it and up on the mountain we will get 3 or 4 times as much as the "townies" do lol. We have some very "artistic" snowman builders around here too.... Anyway bloods are doing as they are told (at the moment!).

School pen, I seriously underestimated time needed to remove frozen snow from car though for school run.now working at home to avoid any train issues.
Have a safe journey to Chepstow @Mel dCP
@helensaramay the good thing about exhibitions is people often have sweets on the stands...

@Diakat looks as if the "sugar is bad" message is getting through to the techy industry. I have not seen any sweets on stands. Plenty of t shirts, baseball caps, socks and other tat but nothing sweet.
How disappointing - used to be you could always get mints and soft centre chocolates. As well as assorted branded junk...

Winds light to variable. No snow, lots of sun, Ice creams melting on the pavement, lots of cafes.
Group health consumer review of a new webpage for a Govt agency - boy, those web designers are good: text into audio, printing of pages in Braille, up and down font sizes, best colours and contrast for visually impaired persons.
What made it hilarious was that one person there was waiting to hear whether his wife had gone into labour with twins.
The father to be got lots of good-natured ribbing. :cat::cat: I forgot to up basal rate for the meeting gain!:banghead::banghead::banghead:
A normal summer's day in Adelaide.:):):)

Hey all. Changed my cannula this morning, it felt a bit funny but I thought, oh it'll settle down. I got to work through the ice-induced traffic, and a few hours later my BG is climbing steadily, gave the site a gentle poke and it turns out it's gone loco...20190130_111624~2.jpg

Argh, not pretty for you Colin, hope you’ve got emergency kit with you.
And ‘afternoon all. I’ve been lurking and moaning these last few days but nasty cold and other stuff has run away now, finished the antibiotics for the other stuff and wow, it’s sooooo good to be back to more even bs!
Muddy here, small fall of snow’s melted and cat’s distributed an even layer of the stuff over the clean bed cover. Since it was cat I had to sniff to confirm it’s mud. It is. Phew!!!!!!
Found a pot of sprouted lentils in reduced veg section so warming compost to plant as many as poss. Anyone ever grown lentils - mung, brown, green, chick peas - in this benighted country? I’m hesitating a little in case my actions ensure a cold wet summer.

Following yesterday's lows (which I carefully did not over treat but turned down my pump), my BG decided to rebel again overnight and shoot up to 14mmol/l. Following my own advice, I double checked with a finger prick. I did not check for ketones because I was feeling ok

A question not necessarily aimed at you, but has been wandering around at the back of my mind for a big - checking ketones. I've never done this, though I have had highs where the meter has said "CHK KET" many times over the years. I've treated the highs with insulin as normal and watched them come down. What would I do with a ketone test?

Good question, I've never done one either in over 30 years of T1. I'm on the second part of the course about T1 and exercise tomorrow and one of the people running it is a consultant; if I remember I'll see if he has a view, I'd like to know as well.

An acquaintance posted this to me, it's a great play on words :-

Brexit would be more interesting if they called it The Great British Break Off! ;)

This afternoon I finished daughter's flat pack Ikea 3 drawer chest of draws that she bought last summer ! it looks good, so she will be surprised ( and hopefully appreciative lol) when she get's home :) Don't need any heating on doing diy :D

Ketones were part of our DAFNE course. All in conjunction with being ill. Ketones when having a high peak after eating will be there but go down when the level goes down as you would expect. The problem comes with illness and consistent high sugar levels. Ketones should then be checked and will dictate how much extra insulin you should take and how often. All part of the very important sick day rules. Am sure your course will cover this.

Thanks @becca59. The course isn't likely to as its focus is purely managing T1 and exercise. My DAFNE course was so long ago.......if my memory was good enough I'd know whether or not they mentioned ketones :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
