Morning all. I don’t want to go back to school :(:arghh:

Still, smooth night after the afternoon and evening’s high, so happy with that. Just a shock when the alarm went off at 0530!

Have a good one, all.

08:40am appointment for retinal eye screening! Will have to do battle with commuters, or at least my husband will. Hate those pesky eye drops, they seem to take all day to wear off. Still it’s a good check up. On the plus side it is thick fog, so may be able to ditch the sun glasses. Have a good day all.

Roll on retirement! (without in any way wishing my life away! I just wanna win the lottery, hand in my notice and see What Happens Next)

Me too  I have another 5 years because of this blasted government, because we, Joe public, are living longer. Living longer with more medical conditions.
That's my Monday moan lol  but wishing you a good start to the the week :)

Libre can start to read more and more out the higher/lower it goes @Robinredbreast, totally agree with helensaramay there.

@helensaramay - My last check was in January and it was at least 3 hours before I felt my vision was returning to normal. I must have looked a bit odd wearing sunglasses in a car park on a cold day in January trying to use muscle memory to phone for my lift afterwards. The first year I was able to get the photos taken without the drops!

cold weather
Morning everyone,
Came back yesterday from celebrations in Stratford upon Avon to mark someone's birthday!! The parade was fun but soooooooooooooo cold. Much as I like staying in hotels, it was good to sleep in my own bed again.
Woke at 4.30am with 3.3 and ate fruit pastilles, not nice at that time in the morning but woke again later at a respectable 4.6. It was either the number or the flavours I ate to cause such a perfect rise.
Have a lovely week

Morning all,

@Robinredbreast Libre tends to be further out at larger numbers. And I guess you still get to see the trends.
@becca59 it must be the day for retinal screening - mine is this afternoon. Thankfully, it is walking distance so no worry about battling drivers. However, it is climbing tonight so I will be waiting for the drops to wear off and to be able to see again so I can drive. For me, the duration of the drops is so variable: anything from one hour to 4 hours. I think the 4 hours was an anomaly.

I am interested to know what is the experience from the rest of the gang. How long do you have blurred vision after a retinal scan?
About six hours for me. One hospital I went to gave me anti-drops after to counter them, but they gave me the dilating ones instead, so I looked like a stoned bush baby for the day :D

@helensaramay @Knikki all done and out by 9:05 am. Sunglasses in place despite the dull foggy day. ( love the Blues Brothers) It usually takes 3-4 hours for normality to return.
Following finishing off sorting out our house 4 years after moving in, I said a fortnight ago, no more workman in. Friday night we discovered a slowish leak from the joint on our new radiator, all over our new bedroom carpet. It looks like some pipe corrosion. I have my sons old nappies wrapped around it and change them every couple of hours. Just like a baby. Plumber coming tomorrow, which is a good job as I have just had a freak accident with the bathroom loo!!! On flushing, the flush mechanism stuck to my finger and dropped into the loo, which was flushing. Despite plunging my hand in, (I know I know!) it disappeared! My blood sugars are rising as I type. The worry is that these events tend to come in 3s. Good grief!

I saw the diabetes nurse today. Expected a negative conversation about my HbA1c being too low (34) but it went well. I was ready for her concern and it came, but she listened to what I said which was great and was convinced on looking at my log book.

She raised the concern about low carb diets being bad for you - I said that concern was from low fibre (Prof Jim Mann) and explained how I got plenty of fibre from all the vegetables and nuts. So that solved that.

I felt so stressed about going to see a diabetes person after my previous experiences, I had a horribly high BP when she took that.

First diabetes appointment with a specialist or nurse where I haven't come out feeling peed off. Things are looking up...

People whose attitude says "Me, my opinion, my desire is greater and more important than anyone else"

And to whom the principle of ahimsa is a closed book that they refuse to open because it would make life more difficult for them.
They used to do the eye screening in my local surgery - very useful - and I didn't need the drops there. Now they only do it at the hospital where I do need drops. I wander round blind as a lickle bat for the next two hours or so. I am very short-sighted with astigmatisms, and I get night blindness in my left eye.

I retire in 3 yrs and 8 months (not that I'm counting or anything). Roll on the day. I checked my future pension and because I've already paid in 46 full years of contributions I can't get any more on my pension but on the other hand I have to keep working and contributing. Wossat all about then?
