@MeiChanski good news on the pump. Getting the CGM to go with it is another jump thru hoops BUT the hoops are much much smaller. Everytime I see my DSN/consultant I ask about the CGM to go with my 640G and the answer is I am too well controlled now and do not get many hypos so NO!

It is mind boggling that to use the full tech, you need the CGM but that is the expensive part of the kit, :( How is it without the CGM?

I wish I had pushed for the pump a long time ago. Best A1C in 30 odd years and better control overall. Not having to jab myself countless times a day.....the list goes on and on. its that good I actually named my pump Mike lol. Fingers crossed you will get funding for a pump Mei

Thank you, would you have preferred it with a CGM or it doesn't bother you too much? I'm just waiting for the prepump appointment so I should hear back from them soon. I got off the phone yesterday to hear my dsn say my consultant agreed to refer me.

Medtrum have just done a software update on their pdm (pump and Cgm remote control) for their 14 day A7 CGM which is about to be released.
I don't have any more details at the mo.
I think that would be interesting to see a tubeless pump communicating in a similar way to Mel's set up. Do you know if their CGM will cost an arm and a leg to run?

@MeiChanski pump manufacturers use Paintshopped models in their marketing material. It does not make sense to compare your beautiful body with fake ones.
As for Medtrum customer support, I have no complaints. I called them at midday on Sunday and had a replacement pdm by 12:30 Monday and a follow up all within an hour to make sure I knew what to do with it. And a spare pdm (remote control) thrown in.
I couldn't comment much on the pump's advertising but I was referring to our beautiful type 1 men and women on instagram where they show their kit on social media. I don't have that kind of body, but I'm willing to put effort in. :)

Those are the Paintshopped bodies I was referring to.
These manufacturers think they will sell more pumps if they advertise them with aspirational (fake) models attached. Just like everything else in advertising whether it is food, alcohol, mobile phones, clothes, washing machines, gardening equipment,...
Apologies, that is indeed true. Does anyone look that good with a pump in person? Do you feel confident with it?

Afternoon chaps. More induction stuff, and I just joined a union while everyone got free pizza. Had a very nice packed lunch while looking out to sea. All the free pens, and Unison gave me a purple coffee cup, fobwatch and pen for joining. Financial blathering this afternoon. Yawn.

Has anyone not liked their pump? Are we stuck with it for the next 4 years in anger and frustration? I know there are some who have said it didn't work for them.

An interesting observation, it seems my liver is chucking out 20g equivalent as the foot on the floor, where previously (in the holidays) it’s been 12g. Excitement/nerves/stress? Wonder if it’ll settle down when I get into the routine of things?

Sure it's not the cheap student beer???

Do you leave your extra pens, insulin etc in your bag or do you take it out everyday to store it in the fridge and take it out the next day? I was thinking of setting up a routine where I store the insulin in a grab bag and take it with me when I take lunch out.

Good morning all
Pfffft to diabetes!!!!! I had a hypo just before bed last night. I am usually pretty good with NOT over treating a hypo BUT a bar of chocolate and 5 jelly babies later I wandered upto bed! Alarms going off at 3 am with a 17.8 OOPSIE :) woke to a 8.4 after a large correction in the night. Tired and hypo = eat too much rubbish.
So @Manfer87 even us seasoned, so called pros, make big mistakes :)

Sorry to hear you had a Hypo too @porl69
your over treating doesn't sound so bad compared to mine though :wacky::hilarious:
I really went for it!

But it is the first Hypo during the night I have had in a long time, whereas I was getting them 2-3 times a week previously! So for that I am pleased!

I hope you've levelled out now

I think it's all the free pizza Mel is getting. I know when I was at university, they were giving out free dominos. :hilarious:
Except I don’t eat pizza either! Had a lovely 10g carb lunch in my bag - vegan kebab “meat” with fried asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, konjac rice, tahini and a dollop of baba ganoush. And low carb bread.

How do you pronounce that? is it like cognac???!!!! :D
Nah, it’s said just how it looks. It’s a good zero carb rice and noodle substitute for those of us who choose that way to eat. The pasta is gruesome though.

Bit of a dip is levels this afternoon, all this thinking is hard work!
