Hello All,

Hope you are all well and fit.

I have thought it would be nice to get a thread on blood sugar levels after food.

With a quick description of food eaten and levels after 1 hour and 2 hours.

Would be good put in the before food level as well, but test strips are expensive, so I shall leave that one to individual choice ect.

So I shall start us off.

I had 2 slices of toasted Nimble brown bread with cheese and 2 Bird Eye Chicken Chargrills
1 hour: 6.7mmol
2 hour: 5.9mmol

Cheers

Can I ask a question?

Is this just for general info like the Morning Glucose level thread?

Cos I can eat some things others here cant, and vice-versa so knowing how certain foods affect someone wont necessarily help me know what will help me. I will still need to test.

(or I could be overthinking the whole thing, in which case I apologise for my lack of understanding)

Average +2 for the last week is 7.8. Would have been lower but today gave a surprise result of 10.2 so I need to look into that. I don't do a +1.

The before average for the week is 4.1

Funny thing is I seem to be able to eat as many potatoes as I wish whether they be chips or boiled. Basmatti rice is also fairly safe provided I don't have a full gutbuster portion. I can't even smell flour based products without the numbers going ape. It seems I only have to low carbo on certain things. Life is getting easier but sometimes I miss the bread.

Yes think this thread is a good idea,my sugar always peaks at 1 hour but doctors are not sure if I am Type 2, LADA or MODY yet.So last night after a tuna salad sandwich and treat of Scampi crisps -:

before: 7.1
1 hour pp: 14.8
2 hour pp: 12.1

So not great cosidering I ran 4 miles before tea.

Hi I am very new to this just diagnosed 3 weeks ago my levels are usually between 6mmols and 6.5mmols fasting they never go much above 7.5mmols but this week I have noticed they are going up 2 hours after breakfast reading 9.8mmols and todays shock 10.5mmols I have cereal for breakfast today was weetabix with a little brown sugar yesterday shreddies with a little sugar.I don't understand it .I don't understand low carbin and have been told to cut down on fats and sugar which i am doing really well i just have a little on my breakkie.I feel so cross with myself that my levels are going up I thought I was doing well keeping them low.

Re: Type 2’s: What’s your 1 & 2 hr blood glucose after meals

my readings are aways pretty high 2 hours after breakfast, in the region of 9 at least. it doesnt matter what i eat, its aways high. but then later in the day it seems to sort itself out. it baffles me.

Cereals? With sugar on top?
Mine would be in double figures I am sure which is why I avoid them. Plus the lactose in the milk....
IMHO cereals can be amongst the worst things to have for brekkie.

My concern remains with this preoccupation with it being ok for the level to come down 2 hours on when it likely has spiked an hour after eating. Having my eyes lasered for DM related problems even tho my last HbA1c was 5.2 floored me. It now really bothers me about how this spiking might be going on almost invisibly doing the damage... but it seems at odds with the premise of the HbA1c test. IMHO to avoid complications we must stay well within single figures however long after eating.

All reassurances or disagreements equally welcome! 8)
