no, i dont think prozac is generally prescribed for lowering levels. after reading somewhere that diabetics get prescribed prozac for depression and one of the good side effects is that it lowers bg levels. i finally have a doc that will listen to me, and when i said i wanted to try it with metformin to help with weight loss and lower bg levels she said she has never heard of it being prescribed for that either. i said i would like to try it, and i am feeling a bit stressed lately. she said ok. in the past month since starting prozac i have lost about 10 pounds +/-, my morning reading have dropped from 145 (sorry, cant find the converter) to 125-130, because of my levels i stopped doing 1000mg met 2x daily and do 1000 in morning and 500 at night. dropping it again down to 750x2 daily. i know, same amount, but should even me out a bit. if i still do good on that, will go to 500 x2 daily. since i have leveled out a bit, i no longer notice or feel weird when i get low. used to be at 77-80 i would get shakey, feel awful, and my eyes would strobe. i was just 63 a bit ago before lunch and i only had a small hunch i was low.
