Type 2 / aspirin

I'm sceptical. At the bottom of the link there are comments from GPs.. Some are sceotical themselves about research too!!

It does seem that one year aspirin is good, then it can cause stomach orobs, then its good at protecting against cancer, now its bad again (possibly).

I think at end of day that the patients have to monitor their own side effects..and blood tests etc..

It does prove though that we are still in the infancy of medicines.. And despite aspirin being around for decades. We are all still guinea pigs.

I was told, years ago, that I could come off aspirin because of studies which showed it was only a preventive measure for those who'd already had heart problems.

I have no problems with aspirin I've been taking one a day for years , the doctor said to stay on it so I have am I doing wrong??

Its only, at the moment, a small research and a warning to GP's to be aware.... I'm just letting people know that this is being put out on GP online communications...

Some GPs will not even be aware yet!!

Hi Jay1Jay1,

I don't think your doing the wrong thing in taking asprin on a daily basis, as long as your GP, or Diabetes Nurse, are also aware your taking asprin on a daily basis. As for whether it's good, or bad for one to take, I can't say. But some GP's give it to the elderly to maintain their blood flow, so speak to your GP, or Clinical Nurse, for advice. Good Luck and Take Care Ok!
