What is low carb program for type 2 diabetes ? All I know is on low carb program you loose weight and that's exactly what i want. I asked my doctor to put me on low carb program but no luck its been two years still not heard anything about it from my GP.
If someone on low carb program can you share your diet plan?
Thanks

There are plenty of books around including cookery books. Also a very good web site is www.dietdoctor.com It has loads of free info on it.
I am afraid you have to do your own investigating. Don't believe Low Carb is part of the National guidelines. Do Doctor unlikely to suggest unless progressive.

Sorry but what I cannot understand is that you have waited 2 yrs for the GP to tell you what to do. Just do it yourself. And through this forum maybe you can do it

Is this what you are looking for, @Tinaa ?

Perhaps if you showed it to your doctor you would get support from him / her.

Hi,

You can look a at some of the lower carb ideas from our members on this forum in some of the related diet topics or take a look at “diet doctor” which gives a carb count on menus that could help?

I’ll tag in @Rachox & @Goonergal they improved their diabetes & found new selves with weight loss.

Hope this helps.

I second @Jaylee ’s suggestion, in the absence of getting on the low carb program, of taking a look at Diet Dr, this is a good place to start:
amd you’ll find these graphics useful too:

At the beginning of the year after getting advice on here I changed my diet to a low carb one. Since then I have lost over two stone and got my diabetes under control it’s all about choosing the right foods and cutting the carbs portions down. For me I stayed under 150 carbs but everyone is different plus after losing so much weight I’ve had to have my meds adjusted so keep an eye on that. But my typical day would br
Greek yogurt and blueberries for breakfast
Salad with chicken and just a little mayonnaise for lunch
A roast dinner with one or two small potatoes mainly veg and a small portion of meat for protein
Snacks a few almonds. A small apple. Mackerel in brine.
But again everyone is different what you have to do is take your bloods regularly and adjust your food. Learn your triggers that’s key.
And the most important is exercise.
From my hbA1c being 77 in December 2021 it now is 47 in April 2022
