Type 2
I have just read that Metformin is an old fashioned drug and there is a new nasal spray.
If the spray is not yet available what is being used to replace Metformin?

Hi. Metformin may be an old drug but is as useful as ever in bringing about some reduction in blood sugar and appetite with very few side effects; it's also cheap. There are other drugs, of which I'm on two others, which have different mechanisms. There are some others but I'm not aware that any nasal spray is yet trialled fully and certainly not available. Each drug be it tablet or injection (other than insulin) will have a different mechanism although there are some popular groupings such as the sulfonyureas and glitazones etc
