Hello all
On 31st March, I was taken to hospital after suffering a nasty bout of covid 19 and pneumonia
On 28th April I was diagnosed with type 2, as the night before, I was taken to hospital with a BSL of 28 after suddenly going faint and feeling like a was going to die!! The hospital just checked my Sats and told me to go home and in the morning call GP, where they took bloods and confirmed Hba1c of 9.9....
I was given a monitor and Metformin (to take once a day for 7 days, then 2 a day) and have lost 2 stone, from 18st 8lbs to 16st 7lbs from changing my diet and exercising more. BSLs in Morning are sometimes as low as 4.7 and don't really seem to go any higher than 7, 2 hours after eating, although since speaking to nurse, she said I don't need to monitor as BSL low and pancreas is definitely producing B cells, originally she thought I was about to go into the ketoacidosis thing, but was surprised to see no ketones, or negligible amount in bloods.
I have been drinking 500ml of Huel with 2 scoops for breakfast and lunch and eating a healthy dinner. Somedays I will eat normal foods but keep it healthier. For the last 4 years I was abusing my body by putting in awful foods and never excersising, so I guess it caught up with me, and Doctor thinks that perhaps the virus brought it to the surface, better late then never i guess!!
Upon diagnosis I got very anxious ( I think because since late-ish March I had been nothing but ill ) and Doctor prescribed Citalopram 10mg which I never ended up taking and tried CBT instead, which has worked, I'm no longer googling everything =D. I was particularly worried because I felt I was too young at 35 to get the disease, and was reading about the 10 year reduction in life expectancy etc and would cry like a baby because I didn't want to ever miss a moment with my 2 young children, however I now believe that that scenario is perhaps only advice for those with type 2 who don't change bad habits and continue to eat badly
Since taking Metformin I feel I have developed a dizziness and ringing in the ears , mostly noticed in the left side and was wondering if anyone has also witnessed such, and if it eventually goes or if there's another pill that can diminish it that you may know of?
I guess I'm just looking to see if anyone else got quite bad anxiety after diagnosis and how you're all feeling now, I feel lots better but really want to be able to sit in a group and discuss things with people going through the same thing, so I can get support and offer support likewise
Thank you for reading =)
