Type 2 Life

I will, we're watching Pride and Prejudice this afternoon and my little brother doesn't like it so I get to do the audio description for her while he retreats upstairs to his computer game

She's really happy for DS, she can see how happy he is

@TooManyCrisps - Hello - What was your fbs this morning? Sorry, for taking my time to get back to you.

Hi @liam1955. My FBG was better this morning, at 7.2. I also had a better reading just before lunch of 6.3 which is the lowest it's been since my cold started. Hopefully things are back on track now.

I skipped the gym last week as was feeling lousy and really just crawled into bed every evening once I got back from work. But went back last night, and will be going again tonight.

My son (17) has his driving test tomorrow so I will be stressed tomorrow morning!

How are you doing?

Woke at 4.30am so tested out of curiosity 3.3 but no hypo symptoms. I tested again at 6.30am and I was showing 4.2. Wont test now til after b/fast about 10ish. Feel I'm testing too much and fingers need a break. Ha ha
I've tried the reheated potato theory. Spiked to 8.3 one hour later...so far. Fried sunday roast mash with cheese.
@liam1955 I've stopped my diuretic diabetic med as since I've stopped my leg has totally transformed from a cripple to walking without pain. I cannot believe that tablet caused so much anguish for me. Any change to your body other than thrush?

@ickihun - Hi. Apart from the 'thrush' that's it. What sort of leg pain? Was it Sciatica like pain? My GP pointed out when I began taking it in May, 2015 I must stop it immediately if I suffer: Thrush, Back Ache (where kidneys are), Burning Urine. I saw GP last Friday and he gave me that cream (Datkacort) he said it was only mild the thrush and it could spread to my erm "male bits"!! It never itched - just was stinging. It's gone now after just 4 days - so that cream was powerful. Or did I help it? By putting 1 drop of Tea Tree Oil into warm water and use cotton pads to dab the area (did this twice daily for 4 days) I am sorry to hear you have a poorly leg. Do you find when you stop the tablet the pain stops? It's good that we can share these 'diabetic' problems - and compare notes!

@TooManyCrisps - Hi. Well your b.s. was better than mine this morning. (I went off the rails yesterday!!) Oh dear, sorry your not well. Just drink plenty of liquid if you don't feel like food, and illness like stress does raise your bs. Hope you get better soon. Take care

William all my pain and thrush has gone. I couldnt walk without a crutch. Co-codamol galore but pain has now gone. My foot was cold and half of foot was numb. i was checked at A&E for dvt and neuropathic damage. i was frightened as i thought it was permanent. I couldnt put pressure down on my leg/foot. It failed me. Just before my leg kicked off I started canagliflozin and swimming sessions. I'd never heard of swimming causing sciatica. Have you? GP didn't even examine my leg but he was hoping sciatica. When I saw him last he was surprised I still had it. Dn told me to ask for physio but just left with lower backache. Could backache be my kidneys? i drink loads. Not alcohol. Ha ha
What do you think?

@ickihun - Swimming is good for back problems and your cardiovascular system. You could ask your GP to refer you for a MRI Scan? I was like you described - had to use a walking stick. 3 years ago I had a MRI Scan because I had terrible lower backache and my left leg felt numb from my hip right down to my big toe, and I was experiencing burning pain like someone sticking a sword in me. The MRI Scan revealed I have Arthritis of the spine AND I had 2 Herniated Disc's in my spine. The pain I would not wish on my worst enemy!!! It's the pain in my spine that keeps me awake and prevents me from getting a decent nights sleep. Pain medication does not work anymore for me. I use a T.E.N.S machine and Heat Pads and they give some relief, my GP says I just have to put up with it. So long as I keep on the move then I am alright - it's when I sit for too long or stand still talking it is painful. Go back and 'nag' your GP for a MRI Scan. If you have backache for 6 weeks or more? It needs investigations. Let me know how you get on will you?

@ickihun - just re-read your thread. Sciatica is a symptom and the sciatic nerve runs from deep within the buttock down the leg, it can get displaced and trapped.I still say It needs investigations - take it from someone who experienced and still do suffer with it from time to time.

Hello @liam1955 . Glad your feeling better. I didn't feel great this morning . My friend rang and we went into the country to a garden centre. The weather was fabulous! We saw blossom on trees and swathes of snowdrops. Beautiful! We went for coffee in a village. I'm sleepy now and was just reading some of the threads. I've bought a celeriac so I will need to decide what to do with it. How are you? Good day?

Hi @mo53 - I love garden centres too. We go to that one near Humanby = Reighton Nuseries. (Visit there 4 - 5 times a year) We will be going in several weeks time. Was at Deans last week - the one here in York (I know there's 1 where you are) Well, you certainly picked a lovely day for it. Good for you. I want to go to Burton Agnes Hall (near Bridlington) to see their snowdrops and aconites they are breath taking. Off to start meal now. Bye

Hello @liam1955 have you been to the Eastfield garden centre at Bridlington? Everyone tells me it's super but I haven't been yet. I bought primula etc and a new tub but I haven't planted it yet. Having tea now.

Thank you @liam1955. I think I'm almost completely better now, and blood sugar readings are coming down. I've just got home from work, will have some dinner and then head to the gym.

Let me know what you do with the celeriac, I would like to try it but DS doesn't eat vegetables so I've been feeling a bit intimidated at the thought of getting a whole one just for me.

You really did choose a good day to go out, I had a lovely walk to and from my mums this afternoon! I spotted some daffodils which cheered me up no end.

Afternoon, FBG 5.7 and 6.1 pre dinner injection. Still very sleepy all the time.

Hello @Diamum5972 . I'm thinking I might just make some oven chips. I think I will be having them tomorrow so I will let you know what I think. How lovely to see the daffodils. I love the spring flowers.,

@mo53 I find any frozen chips out of a bag are worse for my BGs than pure potatoes peeled and chipped and done in my Actifry. No grease and better BGs.

Hello @eddie1968 I wasn't going to use frozen oven chips. I was saying that this was what I was going to do with the celeriac I had bought. This was just to try it.

Thanks you clarified that. There is something iffy about frozen chips and I stopped eating them years ago.

Hello @eddie1968 I've never been a fan of them. I'd rather fry chips myself. I've not been eating potatoes and chips at all which was why I thought the celeriac ones would make a change.
