Type 2 Life

Yes thanks, my son has a day off college today because his lecturers are on strike so we're chilling out at home. My knitting group meets tonight so fingers crossed it won't be chucking it down again!

@Diamum5972 - That's nice spending time Mum ans Son just chilling out. I've (we, my partner)got to go up to see mother-in-law it's her birthday today - she is 79. I will only have a small piece of birthday cake - I think!!! Have a lovely day with your Son.:)

@liam1955 your dinner sounds absolutely delicious! The celeriac chips were delicious. I would say far nicer than potato chips. I followed the recipe on the bbc good food website. When I put them in the pan to add the oil I also added garlic granules, onion granules, black pepper and salt. Fabulous! I've done my bs and will test again after 1 and 2 hour as I know that potatoes have a very strong effect on my bs so if these don't I will be over the moon! Enjoy your birthday party.

I can't wait to see your results, I've just had a highly enjoyable ramble round the website and I am now armed with a battery of yummy celeriac dishes! It's shopping day tomorrow so celeriac is at the top of my shopping list :)

@Diamum5972 - Oh that's good, so tomorrow we'll all be waiting to see what culinary delights you produce then? So this could be the new vegetable for us diabetics? Providing it does not 'spike' our bloods too much. I am awaiting Mo53 results? And now, will have to await for yours - tomorrow. This all exciting:):)

@13lizanne - Have missed you Anna. I know you had gone shopping, but thought what on earth???? (Must be stocking up on M&S finger rolls and ham for the weekend !!!) :D:D. Will chat later, off out at 4pm'ish.:)

Hi everyone
I was determined today that I would make time for a chat, unlike yesterday. Hope you are all well or at least not having too bad a day.
My results have been all over the place, 1st the good news, a 5.5, 5.6, 5.6 whoop whoop, now the bad(ish), others ranging from 8.8 to 6.3 for the rest. The 8.8 was just over 1hr after having a fresh cream n jam doughnut, my only treat for Feb so far.

Son made sure I saw him off yesterday by waking me at 5.00am tiptoeing around like a baby elephant!!! They flew from Bristol and he texted me to say the flight only took 50min and his 1st impression was 'It looks like a sh*thole' (apologies for language). Talk about giving a place a chance, he hadn't got out of the airport.

Hospital appointment this morning with gastroenterologist, new consultant again so it took a bit of time. After our discussion he's willing to leave my meds alone. Had bloods taken because of inflammation levels, if GP gets the results she might tell me if my sugar levels have changed, but if they haven't or more importantly gone up, she can keep it a secret.

I'd better start cooking dinner, battered steak and salad (battered as in with a wooden thingy), I might even have a slice of Burgen.
Just tested and it's 6.2 so maybe I'll leave the Burgen.

Think you might be over-testing, your HbA1c is a better indicator of your diabetes control. Spot testing only tells you so much and glucose levels fluctuate all day and night.,

@eddie1968, Thank you.

I haven't been testing for long approx. 3 weeks, so still trying to find out what I can tolerate but even eating the same things will give a different reading at times. (I'm not on medication for diabetes).

I've only had 2 Hbac1 tests both in December, results 48 & 49. Diabetic nurse has said that I won't be tested again for a year.

Hello @liam1955 my blood sugar was 5.6 before lunch and only 7.1 later! When I ate Irish stew with potatoes it leapt to 14.6. Needless to say I have been avoiding potatoes which was why I was excited about the celeriac. I ended up doing housework which is just as well as I am having grandson tomorrow afternoon and , weather permitting we will be gardening. Did you enjoy your party?
