Type 2 Life

@doolallylady I test up to 7 times a day I'm med free at the moment too and find testing keeps me on the straight and narrow. My readings today ranged from 4.4-6.7 @eddie1968 is correct our HbA1c is the best indicator of how we're doing generally but I couldn't wait for 1yr to find out how I was doing either. I "eat to my meter" I definitely wouldn't be so aware of my diet (+exercise) if I didn't test
 
Hi @mo53 I'm feeling much better today, thank you. Although our poor boy's face is in a dreadful mess:- black eye, broken nose, burst lip, various scrapes and bruises on his face and arms from where he hit the carpet when he went down! We think he hit his head on a radiator as he went down, HOWEVER, he was smiling and giggling today and has slept well both Mon and Tues (unlike his parents and carers) His autism does mean that he can't tell us what happened but also means he doesn't worry about it either. Sorry for the long answer but several people have been so kind and interested and supportive I want you and them to know that things look much better today.
 
@doolallylady it is great thing to see how you react to food/drinks in the beginning and gives you a picture on your metabolism like before and after meals. It also can tell you how your metabolism is after exercise and even sleep (liver dump in the morning). Keep it up until you are confident. I test 4 times daily but being on insulin this is essential and injecting without testing is neglectful and dangerous. Personally I hate testing and injecting but after years I am used to it now.

I know the broken nose pain and black eyes very well. When I was about 12 years old I got boxing gloves for Xmas. I was sparring with my older twin sister. I was acting all smart with the funky moves and she just walked up hands down then planted a fierce uppercut that smashed my nose to bits. Ended up in Casualty on Xmas. Today my twin sister still remembers it and we can laugh about it now lol.
 
Goodness me! @eddie1968 talk about brotherly love sisters can be worse! Years ago my mum's next door nighbour had two boys who were always fighting. One day she had to take one boy to A&E with a broken arm got from "fighting" with his brother, two weeks later she was back with the other son who had a broken wrist got when his brother hit him with his stookie! How embarrassing for Mum
 
I was undiagnosed for 10 months. I was drinking 4-6 litres of fluids a night. I had the OGTT test and was positive. My initial HbA1c 6 years ago was 112 mmol/mol, off the chart. I felt let down by one GP in particular as I presented with all the classic symptoms for a long time. Another GP (my main one) apologised for the misdiagnoses.
 
I've got 5 sisters, one is my older twin by 45 minutes. I am the youngest and only boy. It's my birthday this Friday 26th and I have to buy a present too - no fair lol.
 
Hi everyone, just been catching up on all the threads. That is good news @mo53 so when I visit you, you can cook me Celeriac chips!!!! Ha Ha. I have been really GOOD = only had scone, cream and jam plus black coffee. Came home and ate my dinner and it was delicious, best thing is I made 2 dishes - so having one for dinner tomorrow. @13lizanne - Anna pleased you are alright and thanks for update on your Son = Bless Him. So, we will all have to 'tune in' tomorrow and see what @Diamum5972 serves up with the Celeriac.
 
Do you know who else is missing from the forum @ickihun? @Alisonjane10 the lady who always includes a cute picture with her fbg results. I hope she's OK, I think she had pneumonia a few weeks ago?

I have friends in SE London as I lived there 20yrs ago but I'd never be rude enough to sort her out. Some people like the anonymity on here. And privacy.

Yes, I think it best if we just post an "are you OK? We miss you on the forum" to their tag Do you want to do that? This thread as good as any, do you think?
 
Wow! what a lot of posts I missed It was nearly 10 pm when I got back last night - a few new people turned up last night and we got rather chatty.
@13lizanne glad to hear you and your son are feeling better, we missed you yesterday! @liam1955 hope you had a good time with your MIL yesterday, did you have any birthday cake?! I think I'll be starting with celeriac chips, I have a chicken breast I can cook at the same time. I found some more recipes on the BBC food website including cheesy celeriac mash so I think I'll be trying that next. My son's best friend is coming over this afternoon so munchies will be needed - better get my backside in gear and go shopping!
 
Please bear with me while I rant - I don't do it often but I hate it when people think that they are superior to others!
I've just been reading a post on a thread and wish that we had a "pomposity" icon to comment. Why, on a forum like this, do some think it OK to look down on others or make grand pronouncements rather than genuinely try to support?
That's it, rant over and I know that you lovely lot on this thread will forgive this outburst ( she says hopefully )
 
Of course we'll forgive you @13lizanne, I know how much of a relief it can be to get something off your chest. Pomposity is one of my biggest bugbears too, when I was temping before I had my son I encountered some ridiculously pompous bosses, let's just say I was glad I was only temporary!
