Type 2 Life

Morning all, a slightly higher 7.0 this morning. Hormones put in an unwelcome reappearance this morning so I'm feeling a bit yuck, luckily I have plenty of paracetomol in stock so my plans won't be scuppered. I'm going to my local Lidl to see if they have any protein rolls, this branch has only recently opened so this is the first time I'm going there

Unfortunately not Anna, I couldn't find anything warm and in my size. Even though my waist has been shrinking I am still "well upholstered" as mum would say, so I'm still a size 16! Never mind, I can check out the shops in Edinburgh next week

Size 16 is positively svelt Barbara! I'm 14/16 medium size myself. What height are you? I used to be 5.6 1/2 but I've shrunk, I'm 5.5 1/2 now

Well, I'm off to Lidl. There's a creative village near to it with a lovely coffee shop, DS finishes early today so I'm going to meet him there. Let's hope his mobile battery doesn't cut out, he forgot to charge it last night!

I'm 5 ft 8, my dad was 6 ft 2 and both my brothers are tall too
Well in that case you are definitely NOT well-upholstered, size16 is just right for your height - ooo poetry! You must be slim at that dress size for your height

Hi everyone,

Most of yesterday was pretty good, my strips arrived at last, new trousers (smaller size, woohoo), test results ok, 7.1 in am, then 5.3 at lunch time, 6.2, two hrs after eating. 6.0 before main meal of 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of rye bread toasted with butter. 6.2 one hour later.
Then we come to the evening, 8.30pm cup of tea time, hubby said I'd been sooo good, have a couple of his biscuits. I honestly didn't need a lot of persuasion, so I had 2 McVities chocolate digestives. 9.1 two hours later!!!! It did come down to 7.3 an hour later but those 2 biscuits are going to live on in my memory for a very long time. They'll have to, because I've told him he can keep all his biscuits in future, thank you very much. Lesson learned, they're not even my favourite biscuits, lemon puffs are, lol.

Hope you're all having a good day.

Karen x

Well, things didn't go according to plan. Our council have been renovating a lot of the town centre which meant changing the bus routes, unfortunately the bus which I caught was one of the affected ones! It didn't go anywhere near Lidl so I ended up going on a magical mystery tour round the farthest suburbs before turning round and coming back into town. Luckily the battery on A's phone lasted so I rang him up just as he was getting on the bus to meet me, he said it was OK he could get that bus all the way home. Phew!

What a carry on @Diamum5972 that could have been a disaster re A! Does that mean no Lidls rolls?
I know! If his phone battery had cut out completely I wouldn't have been able to get in touch with him, good job I put it on charge for him when I got up. I think I'm going to go to the big Lidl on Thursday, the bus going up there is an intercity bus so they haven't been affected. There's also a Tesco superstore nearby so I can do my main shopping there. I'm determined to try these Lidl rolls!

I'm having a quiet day today after my early meeting. Another meeting (ASD support) was cancelled so I'm catching up with several little household tasks while my husband knocks 8 bells out of the attic. I don't know what he is actually doing but he is supposed to be clearing out the junk belonging to our two older sons which has been up there for 20+ years! I bought the Lidls rolls and they were lovely- really filling but my digestive system couldn't cope with them unfortunately. They were great with pate for lunch, I use Burgen soya and Linseed bread now (but only occasionally) Anyway, I think that you will enjoy them they are certainly worth trying.

Eek, I wish him luck! My mum's attic is in a dire state, my dad used to be the only one who dared go up there and he died 7 years ago! My younger brother has vertigo, mum is blind and has mobility problems and A and me have a phobia of spiders. My older brother could get up there but because of his learning difficulties he has no idea of danger and reduced spatial awareness so it would be unsafe.

I'm looking forward to trying the Lidl rolls, I've heard such good things about them. I told mum about them as well and she seems quite interested too, I'll get some for her as well. I definitely want to try them this week because if they do cause any digestive upsets I want to be comfy at home rather than on a train to Edinburgh!

You should be OK Barbara with your intact large gut. I had probs because I only have 1ft of large gut remaining ( instead of 10.5ft) it's a pest because I can't digest veg either. Casn only eat small portion 2/3 times per week. Otherwise I'm fine& fabulous!

@doolallylady - Hi Karen, Well Done on lowering your blood sugars..
As for the chocolate digestive biscuits - I would have eaten at least half the packet, which is why we don't buy them anymore. Instead we buy just plain digestive biscuits and I have just read the pack: each biscuit has 2.7g of sugar.

Lol of course you're fabulous, how can you not be with that profile photo! I tend to be cautious about things that are high in fibre, years ago I used to have IBS symptoms even though when I had the test done it was negative. I had been vegetarian when I was a teenager (I'm allergic to fish so it made sense to cut out meat as well) and I think I had some sort of reaction to all the fibre I was eating. Obviously I'm not veggie now but I don't want those symptoms to put in a reappearance!

Thanks William,
Blinkin heck, no wonder it was so high. That's his last pkt of them too but I'll break that to him gently .

How are you doing today? Having a good one I hope.
