Just to say. 5.7 fasting this morning, had my crackers & cheese last night. And yet yesterday's was 6.9 fasting, but never had crackers & cheese the night before. I hope the others who have tried this also have good fastings today. Let me know?
Tried cheese crackers last night tho I went to bed much later, my sugars were 6.2 before bed and. 6.8 this morning. But tonight I will sleep at a decent time and get up at a better time and see what effect the cheese/crackers have, I was 6.9 yesterday morn. That sounds amazing, @Lindy1706 ! What a wonderful story.I lived in Cyprus for 5 years fantastic place and a wonderful lifestyle. I threw in my busy NHS job when I hit 40 and took a job as a Riding Instructor and trail guide for a riding centre in a small village just outside Limmassol. I was riding for up to 6 hours a day, was super fit and healthy. I met my now Husband there and moved to Amsterdam to be with him....Bit of a culture shock to say the least
I met my
Your right paracetamol does no good st all, cos my one leg is slightly shorter & walk on toes of that foot had so many ops I suffer with arthritis, also got cervical spondylitis in my neck so I suffer hell with my neck shoulder ect, I can't take anti inflammatory meds cos I had liver probs before ect, but I did have accupunture twice it really helped but can't get it now, when my neck/shoulder goes it can take months so my sympathy goes out to all you suffering. Not allowed to use Ibrufen either. I do find heat wheat bags and heat pads are a temporary helpHi, @amgrundy - I can totally empathise with you on this one. I persuaded my GP to send me for an X-ray and when the results came back he said, "You have osteoarthritis in your shoulder - take paracetamol." (A recent study has now shown that actually paracetamol has no effect on arthritis pain.) Two years on, I'm using anti-inflammatories and Ibuleve gel, which at least means I can stay fairly mobile during the day, if not pain-free. Big hugs x
It's going to be VERY hot in August - so be prepared for that! Loads to do in and around Paphos if you want beaches, clubs, shopping etc., but if you want to explore some of the authentic local culture and countryside, hire a car and head further out. It can be pretty remote and unsophisticated in parts, particularly up in the mountains, so take supplies like water, etc., but there's some fantastic scenery, the people are wonderful and you'll want to go back again and again.I'm off on holiday to Cyprus in August, going to Paphos cannot wait. lots of sunshine and culture would you recomend anywhere worth a visit whilst there x
Hi hankjam, Thank you for your reply very kind of you, I bought some Ibuorofen 5% gel it is good stuff but I am still struggling to move my arm up, think I will go back to docs this week and ask for an x ray.
Wow sounds fab ☺ can't wait to go. I'm into a lot of history and culture so getting out and about will be number one priority seeing local places and getting off the beaten track, just a shame I can't drive. Already buying suncream so preparing myself for the hot weather lol. I worked for Thomson/first choice a while back as a children's rep done all the partying and clubbing back then, looking to relax, soak up the culture and a spot of shopping, nothing will change there, I love to shop ☺ xxIt's going to be VERY hot in August - so be prepared for that! Hi HJ, I test 3 times a day too and I use the same fingers as you. I actually prefer using the sides of my fingers, when I first joined the forum I was advised to use the sides of my fingers and I stuck to that. I'm ambidextrous so I alternate hands every day, although life got interesting when I was testing intensively. I was running out of fingers at one point!Question/survey on blood taking:
I've read the threads in the forum and am interested to know from the folk on this thread how and where they take their blood from.
I test three times a day, am, pre and post evening meal.
I use my middle fingers and the two on the outside.
I find the sides of my fingers need a deeper penetration setting and tend to more painful and for longer than my finger tips...
I can't make up my mind if one finger tip is becoming bruised...
I'm right handed so probably test my left hand more often than my right.
Wow - you ARE methodical!Hi @hankjam - I am supposed test a lot more during the day (on Insulin) but don't because of sore fingertips. I start on my thumb and use that for testing one day and move onto the forefinger for the next day until all 10 fingers are used. At the end of the 10 days I rub a little bit of Surgical Spirits on all of my finger tips before going to bed.

I do, a little. My exhusband had football trials there and I was facing the move out there without any family or friends. Luckily I didn't have to move. As nice as the place is and wonderful people. He would have been a nightmare on his own. Pleased it didn't come to that.Does your 'Agree' rating mean you know Cyprus too, @ickihun ? I'm amazed at the number of people on the forum who do!
I agree that there are rules and regulations William, this is an open forum for everyone and the thread titles are for the particular subject. There are many threads and forums to deal with particular subjects and we can ask anything we want on the forums and reach a large number of experienced members. This thread is for everything to do with TYPE 2 diabetes life and it's really interesting to read some of the contributions. Thanks for reminding us what this thread is for, you are a star!We are fortunate to have this thread to share all these little tips, ask questions, answer questions, give advice, have a moan/rant or debate. But, we have to realise and understand it's for Type 2 Diabetes Life and living with it. We don't want this thread taking away. Hope you all agree with what I am saying?
I am struggling to eat enough protein, according to Myfitnesspal recommendations. I dont eat red meat, or like eggs much. I am eating cheese, chicken, ham, tuna, salmon any other ideas please? I am trying to loss wight too, so have to watch how much fat I eat. I have reduced my carbs to under 120g a day. I have only been diagnosed about 12 days, so a newbie at all this.
Oh, and I cant eat nuts.
Myfitnesspal is recommending 62g of fats, and 140g of protein????????
