@debrasue - what was it: Stress? Or pre-bed Snack?:)
Tv ads used to set me off, too. A quick flash of a Kit-Kat was enough to send me rushing off to the all-night garage.
And why on earth did they have to start selling Cadburys Dairy Milk in barn-door sized bars? Oh dear, dear, dear......... :(
Two of my lovely friends bought me an enormous box of chocolates from Harrods when I was in hospital once - a huge, round padded box covered in gold satin, must have cost them a fortune, naughty boys! The box was so huge I couldn't hide it anywhere and so I had to share the chocolates. Nearly broke my heart!!! :arghh:

Not at all @Maureen 5752 I find it interesting what foods others eat.I still eat dates about 4 at any one time and 1 - 2 dried figs (good for bowels) I eat loads of Cheese and Greek Yoghurt and only began buying eggs about a month ago ( farmer's wife comes round door to door selling them) they are free range so we buy them, if they are not eaten by the end of the week I pickle them. I now eat smoked bacon, and dishes that contain Mince = such as Lasagne's and make what I call Mince meat loaf, and homemade burgers, and I now like Chicken Kiev's (shop bought with garlic inside) Prawns, Crab, Lobster, Scampi and tinned Tuna in oil, and butter and Hovis Wheatgerm Bread. Eat chips as a treat when we go out.
Drooling..........

@debrasue - Our friends live in Chlorakas a lovely village elevated up in the hills just 5 minutes outside Paphos off the Tomb of the Kings Road. We used to go every year, hire a car and drive all round the island. We never went for a beach holiday, we went for the culture and archaeological sites and I liked at the time ouza! But, they are big meat eaters out there and don't cater for vegetarians. :)

I know Chlorakas - some of our Cypriot friends took us there once for dinner at a gorgeous and VERY rustic place! Small world... I'm not one for beach holidays other. We liked to drive around and discover new places and new people. And all the Cypriots we met were wonderful people - very friendly and welcoming.

@debrasue - How are you doing with Diabetes? Is there any family history?
Well, I'm feeling pretty good so far. This forum has been a huge help and I've learned an amazing amount from the people posting on here. My hb1ac on diagnosis 5-6 weeks ago was 63 and my first tests were in the 8s and 9s, but now they're in the 5s and 6s with an occasional 4. I have my first appt with the diabetic nurse in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping for a good result. As regards family history, my dad and his mum were both diagnosed T2 in their early 60s (I'm 63).

I wonder if your friends know The Last Castle, out on the road to the Akamas Peninsula? It used to be a great place for lunch with a fantastic, totally open-air restaurant (grape vines for a roof) and incredible views. No menu - just bbq and salad - but the food was fab! Sadly I've heard it's gone downhill in recent years though ( too commercialised). Such a shame.

@debrasue - You are doing very good and your blood sugars are brilliant also. I assume you are following the LCHF Diet. So, you have inherited the gene for Diabetes. Both my Grandmothers had Diabetes, My Mother had Diabetes, my younger Brother has Diabetes and I am 16 years this month with it. It's all a learning curve, and I have learnt a lot being on this forum for 2 years and everybody is so helpful, friendly and we all support each other - like one big family. It's been fun chatting, I have to go and wash the dishes and make my supper - will chat again. Good Night, Pleasant Dreams. William x:)

Yes, we've been there too.

@maureen5752 this is the place to moan, if you can't moan here where can you? It's what we're for.
Cheese is great. I find just a wee bit can really keep the munchies away... that and a glass of water!!!
Wish you well for the ops and sorry if my previous post banged on about exercise a bit too evangelically.
You never banged on about exercise! Don't worry! If I had 2 good legs I'd be out running, swimming everythink, exercise is great for your health, I use my stationary bike. Have good evening

Love the sound of meat cooked with celery and mint - do you have a recipe? I also love lamb cooked with lime juice (Cypriot dish) - delicious!
Hi. It's so easy, use pressure cooker for 10mins or cook in pan but takes longer, fry an onion and seal your meat in same oil, gives great taste, stick chunks meat in with some curry powder, cumin, pepper if you wish, some tomato puree for taste, when meats cooked stick index finger sized celery sticks and chopped mint in till the juice has thickened a little. Done. Enjoy

I was brought up in Iran from the age of 6 months to 14, when I left. Iranian food.... hmmmmm... they know how to cook rice, bake naan's and make mast... and then there was gaz... probably why I am a DB... but no I then came to Scotland to school and learnt about tablet... there was a baker's in Musselburgh that made the most amazing tablet... long gone, which is probably just as well.
Bloods and lipids looking good!
Pity you don't live in sutton I'd cook you Iranian foods, their sweet dishes are to die for! I so miss eating them, I've got a box of gaz here! Plush lots of othere Iranian sweets! I give them away so I don't get tempted!!! Did you like the
Yogurt with carlic, cucumber, onion & mint? I love it, I love all Iranian food.

Dates are classed as a warm food so if you eat dates try to eat some yoghurt aswel, this balances it
