Post MEDIC TensionHi all ,what an afternoon. Well I did warn you all that this week was P.M.T. week and it didn't let me down . Why is it that when you say NO to a doctor they still persist in pushing it? That is what triggered me off. Other than that I've been o.k. Hope that all is well with everyone
Always best to have some good info behind you so you can ask relevant questionsI've been reading up on it and something can be tried to help I've asked for help for him just at the right time. Phew! Poor little man.
felt like punching the woman.Post MEDIC Tension
sumple really I met my husband while he was here we lived together for 2 years he had to return, the country had revolution, when phones worked again he phoned asking to marry me ticket arrived in 5 days & I was off. I was in love!!! But god if I could turn the clocks back, I so missed my parents & country-phones were almost impossible to use, my mother died 14months later, war started I was in war zone being bombed snd surrounded by Iraqis. My passport was confiscated when I arrived at airport got it back nearly 10years later but of no use i had to travel on Iranian passport but by then my dad had died also God bless them both. But I saw such poverty & met lovely (& bad) people, I learnt that material things are not so important, I enjoy them but after being without food water, seeing rats size of large dogs, headless bodies ect you appreciate life so much more, but as you know woman don't have the greatest of value there, mans master, it's a family orientated country but mother & close family come first, I could go on for ever with stories, your every move is known, your son will appreciate you & his country so much more even tho he will be fascinated by the new country he's in, I have a love / hate feeling for Iran, when here I want to be there, when there I want to be here, majority of Iranians are very warm & welcoming & helpful, a fascinating beautiful country, but home is always where the heart isThank you for your post @maureen5752
Yes his head is screwed on the right way turned out to be a good lad
Please tell me more about the Iranian story it has got me intrigued
Thank you but hope your in good health anyway xI'll tag @tina_marie as your tag was for the wrong tina. Hope that's ok?
Yes me, I totally understand and it got to me for a while. It does seem like such a chore and I have to admit I fell off the wagon big time (for almost 3 months) However, my HbA1c still came down a little bit, so it gave me a bit more encouragement. Am now back on track, carb counting, eating well, exercising and BS are really good at the moment. I would just enjoy your parent's big day, as you're definitely not allowed to be a carb boreAnyone else think they spend the whole time counting carbs? When I'm tired and low it gets to me. Heading to a big family weekend in Dorset on Saturday for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and determined not to be a carb bore
thing is she wanted to put him on statins and he had already said no about three times . Then that is where I stepped in . I said to her he wasn't going on them , so she said I need to hear it from him . I thought how many more times does he have to say it ? Then she wouldn't believe that since February Ron has lost 50 kilos , she said it was impossible and wanted him to see the dietitian to see if he was on the right diet for him. The dietitian was really nice and told Ron to keep up the good work.I listen to my specialist as he has studied for years to learn what I need to know. And boy do I need to know. Mine didn't hesitate on putting me back on the metformin to reduce my insulin. Due to fatty liver now gone. However I have to have a liver test in 2 weeks just to be on the safe side.
Oh dear. Some people.thing is she wanted to put him on statins and he had already said no about three times . Then that is where I stepped in . Hi Vicky I turned down the statins because my last 2 test results showed that cholesterol was coming down with the diet control and exercise and now was as the doctor herself said that I am now at the borderline limit at which they don't normally prescribe statins but still wanted me to have them purely because I'm diabetic not that I medically need them but just because I'm diabetic and to me that's still the NHS still putting us all in the same basket and not my individual needs so refused the statins as she couldn't give me a good answer as to why I should take them except being diabetic but I agreed to another test and said that if my levels were showing signs of increasing again I would rethink the decision.Oh dear. Some people.
Why does ron not want statins? The better statin is artorvastatin. My partner takes it. He has a family history of high cholesterol. I'm lucky I don't. In fact last year mine was 3.8 total cholesterol but since doing LCHF it has increased to 4.4. I don't need statins.
I bet his cholesterol is good because of all the movement at work.
I am flabbergasted at her stating she didn't believe his weight loss, too.
What a fascinating life you have led, Maureen!sumple really I met my husband while he was here we lived together for 2 years he had to return, the country had revolution, when phones worked again he phoned asking to marry me ticket arrived in 5 days & I was off. Ron that is what happened to me. They wanted diabetics below 4.Hi Vicky I turned down the statins because my last 2 test results showed that cholesterol was coming down with the diet control and exercise and now was as the doctor herself said that I am now at the borderline limit at which they don't normally prescribe statins but still wanted me to have them purely because I'm diabetic not that I medically need them but just because I'm diabetic and to me that's still the NHS still putting us all in the same basket and not my individual needs so refused the statins as she couldn't give me a good answer as to why I should take them except being diabetic but I agreed to another test and said that if my levels were showing signs of increasing again I would rethink the decision.
Big hugs Vicky for your son and hope for speedy recovery for him .

Hi Vicky no wasn't my usual doc was the hospital lipid clinic doc not sure if some specialist but was told by my doc that the appointment was supposed to be about my high protein levels and kidney function problems but all that was discussed was statins .Ron that is what happened to me. They wanted diabetics below 4.
This is getting revised but Ron some people do still need them.
I hope not all diabetics refuse statins because some people will die without them.
Do you know it's terrible how when your health is imoroving no one seems to believe you. Is she your regular dr? A specialist in what?
I can understand you and @tina_marie 's frustration. Was she able to help with anything?
You have put the nail on it though..... all diabetics are the same, not!
Forget the silly woman and carry-on enjoying your holiday. Some people.
I think she was looking for inflammation. Some statins give joint pain as a side affect so she might write on notes no inflammation so if at a later date you do get those inflammed to change your statin to a better one.Hi Vicky no wasn't my usual doc was the hospital lipid clinic doc not sure if some specialist but was told by my doc that the appointment was supposed to be about my high protein levels and kidney function problems but all that was discussed was statins .
I haven't completely ruled them out as yet just depends on what my next test results show and if show a rise in levels then I will be happy to rethink the decision .
But what struck me as odd was when doc said needs to do examination and then looked at my hands, feet and elbows ??? which took her all of about 20 seconds then just said OK that's it will speak with your GP about retest

I hope you have a lovely time at the weekend, @PenfoldAPD.Anyone else think they spend the whole time counting carbs? When I'm tired and low it gets to me. Heading to a big family weekend in Dorset on Saturday for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and determined not to be a carb bore
You really do have your hands full even now, don't you, Vicky? You know I've been thinking.
If I'm sick of hospital visits my hubby is bound to too. Especially when not for him.
I reminded him how lucky he is but really he is being neglected by the system but I've got so much on I cannot even think what we should be going for him.
I'm just trying to give him a happy home life and if the nhs start giving more counselling I'll push him forward.
Somedays are great, others hard. I guess that's life.
I am reasonably knowledgable on general health but ask me about mental health, I'm useless. I am clueless. My mother suffers too but she is so devious I never know when she's genuinely ill. She was really acting herself one day so I told her I was calling her gp for help. She changed all of a sudden to co-operating. She's a one! I'm going to have my hands full with her later on.
I hope you have a lovely time at the weekend, Penfold.
I know what you mean about the carb counting, but I believe life's for living, too. On such special occasions as that I don't think the world is going to end if you can loosen the reins a little, especially as you have such good control otherwise, which you'll soon regain once you're home again.
Well, that's my philosophy anyway. When I die I hope people will celebrate the fact that I grabbed life in both hands and enjoyed it to the full, rather than the fact that I had great BG levels!
Hugs x
