Yes I was very sad too, you deserve a good life. XxHello Johnny @autisticwonder1970 I was really sad to read your post today. What happened to your friend Lee and the others? Did they go home for Christmas? Did you not visit your father on one of these days? What a shame that you were left on your own, I hope that you left your flat to take a walk at least? Today, is new and I hope that you can buy some food today, if you have no money at all go to your local social services office and ask to see the Duty Social worker, just tell her/him what has happened. Please do this Johnny. Take care
You're absolutely right, Anna - I'm sorry, my comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek and I forgot that often doesn't come across in the written word as it's intended. I do apologise - I didn't mean to cause any offence.Debra, I wasn't there when Johnny was relieved of his money and so can't make a comment on the intentions of his friend. Or even know for sure what actually happened. I was merely putting the facts about religious tithing to Vicky who made me laugh with her post. I think that we are all getting a bit judgemental here about something that is literally heresay
Good point. I guess we can all get a bit over-protective about our friend Johnny, although he's clearly able to make his own decisions about this issue. No offence taken Debra, I'm just a bit concerned about the direction this thread is taking, we all seem to have accepted what Johnny originally described as fact.
Big hugs Anna. Get well soon both of you. XxxHubby and I both got horrible cold viruses with sore throats, chests and aching joints. My fbg was ok but my pre,-lunch reading had jumped to 8.8 isn't it strange how our bodies react to germs by our bloods shooting up?

It's an interesting concept, isn't it?Something wrong with my PC since I installed softwear to clean up the junk on the hard drive. I post and then it disappears, wonder if this one will stay? Hope that you feel better soon Debra, it seems that we diabetics are super-sensitive to sugar and any medical problem we have becomes exacerbated by sugar?
I got to the bottom of mine.I'm so sorry you and your husband are not well, Anna, and I do hope you get better soon. There seem to be a couple of very nasty respiratory bugs circulating at present and they're proving hard to shift.
As lovely as it was having the family with us on Christmas Day, I have to confess it ended up being a considerable challenge for me. Although it usually doesn't cause me any problems I am officially diagnosed with asthma, but it seems that this virus has taken it into overdrive. I've found it a bit of a struggle to breathe for the past three or four weeks generally, and on Christmas Day it escalated into three separate, quite significant, asthma attacks. Being extremely hospital phobic I wouldn't let anyone call for an ambulance, and eventually took to my bed with my nebuliser at around 6pm.
The weird thing is, though, that it didn't seem to affect my BGs at all. What I had noticed, though, was that as soon as I ate anything at all sugary - something I have not been doing at all since my diagnosis - my breathing became worse within a very short time. It started with a couple of dates before lunch, then a mini mince pie, and a spoonful of Christmas pudding with some brandy butter delivered the final coup de grâce at around 5.30pm.
Some online research since has indicated that there may indeed be a connection between sugar and breathing difficulties.
Has anyone else experienced this?
When in the throes of a full-blown attack it kicks in even at rest and makes any kind of activity virtually impossible. It's simply impossible to draw a deep breath - all you can do is take little 'sips', and even then the wheezing and crackling on inhaling and exhaling is very loud. You literally feel as if you're 'fighting for breath' and can't really concentrate on anything else. It's pretty horrible.I got to the bottom of mine.
Pain.
On good pain relief my breathing has improved in rest. Not as painful to walk but now have a numb bum. lol
Breathless in walking still.
My bgs have been good and hba1cs taken both times in hospital and no increase.
However Christmas day I had sugar so my bgs are struggling with the same level of insulin. No insulin delivered today so I'm eching out what I have.
In fact my breathing is better on my higher bgs, it seems. No. I definitely think its because my pain relief has good spells and no walking/exerting myself. Too much talking or an attempt to shout or sing, I'm restricted.
I'm due a breathing test at gp thou.
What is asthma breathlessness like?
I might have asthma too. I don't have attacks. Just have constant difficulty breathing without painkiller and on/off on painkiller. As soon as painkiller is wearing off i have chest pain, rib pains, back pains and old pelvic pain. Im living off codeine and co-codemol so no celebratory alcoholic drink this season for me.When in the throes of a full-blown attack it kicks in even at rest and makes any kind of activity virtually impossible. Normally, full-blown attacks are very, very rare for me and the rest of the time I don't even know I have it, as long as I use my preventative inhaler each morning. But for some reason - probably this virus - none of my meds seem to work and it has gone into overdrive. Even if I'm not having a full-blown attack I'm wheezy and short of breath, and getting anything done seems to take me four times as long! Deeply frustrating...
Yes! I get the pressure in my head too - I didn't connect it until you said that! Interesting...Anything sugary or carby affects both my breathing and creates pressure in my head.
The pain side of it is strange... I hope your medical team can get to the bottom of it for you, hun xxxI might have asthma too. I don't have attacks. I think its rose up from back and affecting my ribcage and sternum hence breathing problem when in pain. The pain side of it is strange... I hope your medical team can get to the bottom of it for you, hun xxx
What do you use to reduce your bgs? Low carbing only?Yes! I get the pressure in my head too - I didn't connect it until you said that! Interesting...
Well, I wasn't scared to lie down, but I knew it would make breathing harder because lying down made me cough more, so I slept propped up for a while.I think its rose up from back and affecting my ribcage and sternum hence breathing problem when in pain.
All could have been prevented from pelvic pain not investigated immediately. Still none of the wiser whether ankylosing spondylitis. I'll ask assessors on thursday thou. If I wasn't supporting my rightside of my body with crutch I'd be twisted. It feels like something has collapsed which supports that side of my middle.
Still don't know what my plac risk is from first scan. I've lived clean but diabetes, longterm can cause that problem too. I'll be surprised whatever the result.
Honey, I'm worried about you. If you have what I've been experiencing breathing wise then asthma on top.
You know at one point how scared I was to lie down. Do you feel the same?
Yes, just low carbs, I'm still managing to avoid meds for T2. I've never actually had a hypo, so I can't comment on that. What do you use to reduce your bgs? Low carbing only?
I get crushed head feeling in a hypo. You?
Get well soon @13lizanne and mr13lizanne. Lemon hot drinks, sugar free are a god send, menthol ones available too. I still took sugar free liquid ibuprofen and decogestant. I needed the help. Be kind to yourself and kick your virus into touch. It can wear you down. ♡♥♡Hubby and I both got horrible cold viruses with sore throats, chests and aching joints.
