Type 2 need meter for arthritic fingers.

Sorry for pestering again as I seem to have been asking lots of question's.
But this one is on meters.
I have bad arthritis in hands and fingers and struggle gripping etc.
Just wondered if there is machine that does all just using one hand or some gadget thing........it would save me a fortune on wasted strips and needles being dropped on floor.

You're not pestering at all :) Ask as many questions as you need to :)

I dont have any experience of arthritis, but if it's holding the strips that you're finding hard, the AccuChek Mobile meter has a cartridge that contains 50 tests so no need to pick up tiny test strips. It also has an integral finger-pricker attached to the side.

I'm sure there are others too, so hopefully some people will be along soon with more suggestions.

The Libre would likely make testing very much easier for you. However, apart from the expense (£50 per sensor per 2 weeks) I suspect you might find it difficult to unscrew the device when it requires applying. If someone was able to apply the sensor for you, generally once every 2 weeks, the scanning could be relatively simple for you, as long as you were able to reach the site of the sensor. The Libre is licensed to be worn on the back of the upper arm, either left or right so if you could reach the sensor, maybe via underarm, then that would be great. If that was difficult, a large proportion of Libre users actually site the sensor on abdomen or upper thigh, which may be easier for you to reach. You must be aware that Abbott don't support these 'alternative' sites though although they do seem to be very successful.

I hope this info helps you. I'm not trying to put you off trying one of these but trying to imagine how you might find it not suitable for you, although I don't know your situation nor your abilities. I use the Libre myself and have found it to be very good, on the whole. Any faulty sensors have been replaced by Abbott.

Thank you for the advice, I did read into it but I would struggle as I have other disabilities and extreme amount of allergies to meds, materials and food etc.
I am happy it is working for you, but decided I will speak to my consultants as see what they advise.
