Can anyone tell me why if I take my insulin and do not eat my glucose does not come down?? I took my insulin at 6.30am today and 3 hours later no reduction in glucose so I ate 10 brazil nuts - insulin still not come down. What am I doing wrong? My insulin is Humalog 25.

"Glucose" not come down NOT insulin !!!

Im guessing if you inject after sleeping all night and before eating anything, your getting a liver dump thats counter acting the insulin. But dont know for sure as i dont inject under those circumstances. I would eat breakfast and inject for carbs plus any corrections needed.

As Nicko says, could be liver dump if you'd skipped a meal. Is this a regular occurrence or a one-off ? How much insulin do you take ? Sorry to be personal but are you overweight ? If so, you may have some insulin resistance ? Could be a few things. If it's just happened once, I wouldn't worry too much. If it happens regular, investigate further, speak to your DSN or doc. Take care, Mo
