Just had my annual blood test. HbA1c has increased to 42, from 36 a year ago. This does not worry me: it is in the fairly narrow range I have been sticking to for many years now, with an A1c somewhere between the mis-30s and the low-40s.
I hope this might encourage any recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetics. My A1c level was pretty high when I was diagnosed in early 2017 (see signature) but it was controlled to "normal" levels within months and has stayed there ever since. This was done entirely with a low-carb diet, which was very strict at the beginning (virtually "keto") then relaxed later, while still avoiding all the major carbohydrate sources.
It's not for everyone, but do give it a try if you possibly can.
Edited to add: Forgot to mention that I've been using the "Low Carb Cookbook" from DDM publishing (available in the shop here) for some years now and can highly recommend it.
