Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

You are definitely not alone, @daisy1 will send you lots of very useful reading material to get you started. Ask questions, scoot about the threads, there are so many helpful peeps around who are very generous with their knowledge. Don't panic, 7.3 is a good number to start from, with knowledge comes control, your numbers will improve. Good luck and welcome to our morning troop.
Thank you... have adjusted my diet to Low carb, but struggling without the snacks and pepsi...gonna keep strong. Amazing support here x

hello I am new to this one and will try to post regularly
not sure what I am aiming for as I am 1 month down the road from diagnosis with a check up in 2 months
agreed no meds at this time.

this morning was 5.3

historic readings have been between 4.6 -5.4

Maximum people get out of the full 2000mg of metformin is 2mmol/l from tablet alone. (So this does not include exercise or diet change affect).
If you've increased from 1000mg to 2000mg I'd guess 1mmol/l maybe? Metformin helps with insulin resistance too so that is more beneficial than this reduction. With less IR when you exercise it can help reduce your weight more. Less weight = less insulin resistance = lower bgs.
Thanks for this info, much appreciated.

7.3 diagnosed T2 2 weeks ago, feeling rather low in myself and alone.

Hi May - I was diagnosed in April and am really struggling with anxiety at the moment (only partially due to the diabetes - mostly it's my caring role and work) I think you need to be really gentle with yourself as it can be a horrible shock. Do post lots on the forum though - it's a big help. :)

Thank you for your kind words. I too am feeling anxious and that i am a bit lost in the wilderness of my diagnosis

Please be calm about your trip to Dr's (easily said I know). Let the dr help you. No quick fix to anxiety, but small steps can feel like giant leaps. Hugs to you.

Thank you @callyandy - I made a long list, and got through the apt without crying which was more useful than the sobbing I did last week. Signed off for 3 more weeks (one of those is half term) and seeing her in 2 weeks time. Have got citalopram tablets to start and an initial apt with the psychological therapy service on Wednesday afternoon. Annoyingly the 7 from this morning hasn't shifted down at all yet. I came out of the doctors a bit happier as there is a plan, but also with a headache. With that and raised BG, hoping I'm not getting a bug :(

@May2017 It's a huge change in your life - I do find some people on this board are very dismissive. The first time I posted (about myself - I actually joined and posted about my Hubby 7 years ago) someone told me "I can offer no sympathy - I enjoy life too much as a diabetic" - charming I thought :D Anyway - hope you find support - certainly this thread is very friendly :)

I'll give you a temporary 6.6, :)the same as me today. I'm happy with that number as I had 2scoops of icecream yesterday at the seaside :hungry:. Enjoy, and be careful in the sun today folks:joyful:

Thanks @callyandy I'll accept a 6.6 it's 'my' lowest morning reading for a while! My test strips arrived 1/2 hr ago, so will test before a zumba class at 6.45 and again afterwards and before tea :)
