Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Morning All

Sneaked back up to 5.7 today.

My 16 day rolling average (all results) has fallen to its lowest ever value, but has now plateaued and looks to be on the way back up again.

Wish I could get a handle on why that is.....

A little confused as to why it's asking T2's what their fasting morning bs is? Been told by GP and Diabetic Nurse T2's do not need to check their bs. Was diagnosed at Xmas x

Hi @judenjo. The standard NHS advice from GPs and DNs is that T2s don't need to test - unless they are on insulin. But a lot of T2s do test to see which foods spike their bs levels. I didn't test until after my first 3 month retest, when I realised that unless I did I wouldn't have any idea how I was doing until my next 12 month HbA1c test. I only test first thing in the morning, but others test before and after meals.
GPs usually won't prescribe meters or test strips for T2s. This is mainly due to cost saving. So T2s who want to test have to fund it themselves.
