I was given the suggestion to eat protein before bed, ie cheese....... That sausage roll would certainly have given me a high FBG reading.7.9 - do not know if this is due to the mini sausage roll I ate before bed last night with the coffee and double cream! Suggested to me to eat some carbs before bed and drink coffee with cream to give a lower over night reading before eating............. From this I would say it did not work............ Back to the drawing board on that one.
Suggestion on Diabetes Self Management site - take Metformin just before bed rather than after evening meal - so this is my next trial for myself. I manage during the day to stay in range but the morning readings are consistently higher than the goal my doctor has set me (what range 5.5 or 37 mmol/mol) - yet to get to this which is proving frustrating.
5.9... I did have a decent glass of Malbec last night in the restaurant!

I'm at 6.5 this morning, had a super Malbec too @KevinPotts at the cinemaand a nibble on some breadsticks that came with the antipasta platter - that must be why I'm in the
8.1 but not good news from doc's, out of control. Not sure if result of last twelve weeks cataract ops and steroid, antibiotics after effects still. Been told to get back to nurse if levels stay up, testing again in three months. Depressing.
@srobertson06 are you on insulin? Carbs are mainly for insulin. I'm on insulin and metformin. I had 6 cashew nuts before bed at 10.2 and insulin then this morning I'm 5.37.9 - do not know if this is due to the mini sausage roll I ate before bed last night with the coffee and double cream!
