7.1 this morning after a restless night - think I've got ants in my pants!
Hi, is that fasting over one day in a week, I'd twenty four hour Shift? Please don't beat yourself up. We've all been there.
Have you cut back as much as you can with the carbs? Steroids arent good news but hopefully if you're off them, you'll see a better result.
You could try intermittent fasting if you don't already. It's really helped me although my bg still isn't as low as I'd like it to be....x

Many thanks. Helpful
Hi, Many thanks for reply, helpful. There's lots of different ways to do it but this is what I do (I've played around with different combinations and find this is the best for me):
Eat as normal - two or three meals in the day before a 24hr fast. Dinner would be the last meal and I will stop eating food at around 6pm.
Fast day - I have coffee with some double cream at breakfast time, then lots of water and I've discovered a love for green tea with lemon. It doesn't taste like pond water at all! If I get hungry, I'll drink and get busy with something to distract me. Then come 6pm, I'll eat a normal low carb dinner.
The next day will be a non fast day so I eat normally and have noticed I can't eat as much which is good.
Then I'll fast from dinner for another 24 hours.
The first couple are a bit challenging but having a warm drink really helps. Some people drink bullion but I don't fancy that!
So basically, I'm eating for only half the week. It gets me firmly in ketosis and FBG comes down to the fives although mine arent as consistent as I'd like. I'm saving a fortune on food too and losing about a kilo a week.
I also try to walk as much as possible which also helps with lowering bg.
Fasting also fits into life easily. For example, I was fretting over my summer trips and being a pain for low carbing, but I've decided I'm going to do daily fasts and just eat breakfast in the morning. It'll be interesting how this pans out because it means going to bed on an empty stomach....
I've been doing it for nearly two months now. It's cured my emotional eating (I was a sucker for drowning my sorrows in ice cream!!), I'm no longer really tempted by stuff when I'm fasting so if anyone tries to push cake into me, I can pass easily and I like that I now ha e a better appreciation for my food and appetite. I never thought I'd be able to do it but low carb keeps you satisfied.
I'll try to dig out a link for you from Jason Fung. He's amazing!! X
