Hi guys, thought I would chip in.
I must say, regular testing is teaching me sooo much.
My dawn phenomenon mucks everything up. By the time I wake up my fasting BG has been long swamped by a deluge of liver dump
However, I've spotted a pattern of 5.3 emerging in my readings. It only appears in the following circumstances, but seems quite consistent:
I'm wondering if it is my 'true' fasting BG.
- When relaxed
- At 3 or more hours after eating
- No recent exercise
If there's any stress, excitement, exercise in the equation, my liver steps in, and BG levels start to rise...
The irony is that I seem to have a conditioned response to hunger. When I get hungry, I get afraid (based on too many hypos induced by hunger), this makes me stressed, which makes my liver dump. At least, that is what I suspect is happening... Certainly, hunger leads to BG rises.
I like the Base Line term. Perfect.@Brunneria I would call it your base line. Mine is 4.3 at which point my liver steps in. My fasting is normally from 4.7 and I think this just relates to the body clock cycle. Your DP must be really frustrating and I have no suggestions for you other than what you are trying.
Hi, diagnosed Jan 2012. Was thought to be type 1 but now controlled with no meds,so draw my own conclusions nowHow long have you been diagnosed Tweetypie? Apologies, I'm on my phone, can't really search any info out right now?

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.
I feel for you. There's a horrible bug going ground at the moment. I had it about a month ago, and it is slowly working its way round everyone I know! Is yours starting with a vicious sore throat, high up behind the nose?
Oh, don't know if you know this, but colds and viruses make the BG go screwy. Mine rises to about 8 and just sits there for a day or two. So don't worry if it happens to you...
... for evening meal I had a chip shop haddock (scraped off the batter), half a tub of mushy peas and a slice of seeded bread and butter! Eaten at 7pm followed by a mug of tea, then nothing but water. Watched TV.
Before meal was 5.0 Peak was 8.5 (bad) Bed time 6.3 Morning 5.7! Lowest ever! Explain that!
I remember reading on here a short while ago that some carbs just before you go to bed can induce a lower reading when you get up.
Not sure why that was so - something to do with the slightly higher BG levels causing the liver not to dump as much glucose into your bloodstream in the morning, maybe?
That was with very limited carbs; I don't think anyone intended to go the whole hog, with fried fish, mushy peas and bread, but it's certainly got me drooling all over my keyboard and is going to haunt me all day now ........
A spoonful of peanut butter before bed lowers my fasting blood results, don't know if it's classed as carb or protein and don't care, it's working. xx

6.0 this morning. Still a bit lower than average.
