Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Over the last few weeks, since stopping taking my statins tabs my blood sugar has gone up in a morning from an average of 6 to 7. I would like some suggestions on what I could do to lower this naturally with supplements or food

I also stopped my statins on 22nd May and fasting average is down by 0.5mmol/l. There is some suggestion that statins raise BS levels. However, I have also reached just over 16% weight loss, so this may be the reason. Either way I'm happy. Have you read the thread Pesky Dawn Phenomenon? There are some suggestions in there.

4.5 for me today. That's the highest for a while. I'm not surprised as we had a very broken nights sleep last night, then I very nearly fell over getting out of bed and had a big adrenalin rush, which might have brought my liver into the mix.

Unconcerned about this, unless I was to see a trend developing in the coming weeks.

6.2 then 7.1 before breakfast.

I've decided to just take one reading - at wake up. This is starting to stress me out today. Maybe due to chronic leg pain and ****** hospital cancelling my ultrasound, but I'm in a really bad and sad mood today :(

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Mine was 5.1 this morning, its weird I hate testing it drives me crazy.

I feel my life is ruled by it.

That said, I am only 10st 5 never been above 12stone 10, so unlike most people I am not large and have always had a decent diet. I really don't know where it came from as no one in the family has it.

I have been in the low 4s for thirteen days straight on fbg. I ask myself why I keep wasting the strips when it's staying so low consistently.

I had to laugh this morning. Hubby and I were both about to have a cup of tea this morning when we got up. He asked me to test his fasting bg just out of curiosity. I wasn't going to bother testing mine but did. Mine was 4.4 ( it's usually 4.2). Hubby's was 5.6! He had a cornetto and a glass of red wine about 9pm last night and I had two Finn crispbreads with peanut butter. It felt good for a prediabetic to be way lower than someone supposedly without that tag.

I am on the skinny side with no one else as far back as my memory goes having diabetes in the family. I was shocked too. Thought I had a healthy diet. Always thought of myself as a savoury person eating a healthy diet with just the odd treat now and again. There must be so many factors involved. A few weeks down the line and I still wonder if they got my test wrong though I am assured my doc they didn't.

I only take mine once. Sorry about your painful leg and hospital cancellation. I hope you get it sorted soon.

3.6 for me today. Bearing in mind I was,3.0 yesterday evening, it was always going to be a low one.

Out for breakfast today, at friends', so who knows what culinary delights will be in store.

It's 07:10 here.

5.2 this morning. Very pleased with my self.

I guess we all wondered or rathered hoped the diagnosis was wrong.
Me? Surely not,I only have a few sweet things....It opened my eyes alright and I've never eaten so healthily in all my life. Just wish I'd of done it years ago but it is what it is and this forum is fantastic for information and encouragement and has helped me along the way.

5.0 (the morning after my mega experiment) so very pleased.

Taking the advice from a number of posters, I tested immediately I woke up and got a 5.8. Having showered and dressed, I then tested when I would have normally done and got 5.1. Whilst the second reading was within the margin of error of the test strips, it was closer to the number I would have expected.

6.5
