Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

4.2 for me this morning, so, within my range.

We're now just waiting at the Customs dock to clear back into the country, then we can return to our home dock and house, and normal business can be resumed.

last night, at anchor, we were treated to something i have never seen before. As the sun was setting, we had significant marine activity off our port side, so we went on deck to investigate. We had expected some larger Tarpon, hunting, but found ourselves observing 7 or 8 large eagle ray playing and almost porpoising. I've seen many, many ray, but never in these numbers. They weren't doing their usual boosting out of the water, and flopping back down onto the surface, with maximum surface area slapping down, but just gliding effortlessly, looking like they were playing. When they do the falpping down onto the surface thing, its to slap off parasites that build up on their undersides, as they go about their daily business.

So, almost back to our home dock, and our local small pod of dolphin. We have three; two adult, and one young, who swim around the stern of one of our boats most mornings. We assume they are feeding, rather than being socially active.

Life in Paradise could be a lot worse, for sure.

<cough> well I've never come across 'man knee' before </cough>

Knee injuries are not good, hope he recovers soon.

6.0 this morning after the first decent night's sleep for over a week, was expecting it to be higher after going to bed on 6.8.

Didn't take mine as left monitor downstairs and dashed around for hour before remembering I hadn't done it. So 6.4 pre breakfast and 6 after it!

6 this morning.......had been awake on and off for an hour so maybe my liver kicking in, been in 5's in the main lately

5.4

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Fasting was 8.2 (so the soup I had last night is obviously a no-no from now on).
Your levels will always be higher in the morning, it has nothing to do with the soup you had.. It's to do with sleeping and slowing down of your organs so not active in lowering glucose levels.. I asked my doc the same question.

i heard from somewhere that the morning level is due to the liver turning the glycogen in body into glucose to sustain the body in sleep. it would be high until it deplete the glycogen, then it will proceed with burning the vldl (fats) store in the liver. if no energy comes obtain. the body will burn the fats in all muscle before burning the fats under the skin.

6.0 this morning. I will start my antibiotics today I don't know if they will effect the levels. Going to measure before and after my potassium tablets today to see if the salt I take reduces it

8.2 this morning, typical when it's the morning I have to go and have the blood taken for my 3 month check up.

On a good note, I did have a nurse that saw me early, listened to what I said about not being easy to bleed and acted accordingly so she has hardly left a mark on my elbow. She far too good to stay at the surgery long.

Don't worry Bluetit, I went to bed on 5.8 and got up to 6.2. Must have been the celebratory half bottle of red and all that excitement from yesterday (I even forgot to do my preprandial test!).

Not just me then this morning blue tit?!! Must be something in the air today!!

The atmosphere is quite heavy and humid, it wouldn't surprise me.

4.1 for me this morning, so in my range.

So, we're back at our base in Paradise after an excellent week or so on the high seas doing delightful things. Of course, when we get back there's much to be done in terms of cleaning the boat, and getting all the salt off from wave splashes, and so on.

I love our life here, but all of a sudden I'm acutely aware I will be back in the UK in under three weeks for a while. That said, it means I miss the strangling humidity here in September, which, even with air con, can be uncomfortable.
