Onwards and downwards @BETH@RGU, :) keep up the good work you're on the right track, will get there at your own pace. :) xx

mine is like that at night...weird how some people have low in mornings and high in the evening where others have lt the other way around....

4.1 for me this morning, so happy enough with that. I'm going to keep a close eye on it, bearing in mind my post of yesterday, coupled with @Andrew Colvin 's of yesterday evening relating to his findings with a new batch of strip.

Yesterday, I spent far too much time on here and not enough time in the garden. It was cold (for me, anyway!), and there seemed to be a lot going on here yesterday! So, back to the patio and my weeds. Curiously neither situation improved following a decent ignoring for another day! I was also a bit fixated by tracking a FedEx shipment I made on Monday afternoon. I was sending to the tropical idyll, and hoping for a decent service. Well, to be honest, I have been astonished. The package left my house at 14:30 on Monday afternoon, and arrived at it's destination (4500 miles away), via USA at 14:00 local time yesterday!!! The 14:00 there is 19:00 here, so my OH can probably go and clear customs for it today. How impressive is that? Very, I think, and it puts our usual importation route, via Miami into the shade, albeit the shipping was tiny bit more expensive.

Oh well, I'll stop rambling now and concentrate on getting a move on. My avoidance tactics are too successful.

Have a great day everyone.

Evening meal last night at 7pm Chip shop takeaway. Scraped half the batter off the fish, had just a very few chips, mushy peas and a slice of bread.

Readings 6.0 after an hour, 6.8 after 2 hours. Then came down. 6.0 at bedtime, 5.9 this morning. Not too bad considering.

This was an intentional experiment to see if my insulin resistance is improving with extra carbs at the same meal. It seems it is, so happy with that, but I won't be doing it regularly. :)

Off to the GP soon to "review our plans" as regards statins. (last week she sent me away to do some research)

Good luck Bluetit. Let us know how you get on. And glad the fish and chips experiment worked, though I'd have had more chips or batter than a slice of bread. Drooling now!!

Mine was 5.7 which is great considering there may be an issue of higher readings with this batch of codefree strips. I've had other batches that I think have read even higher and one that I think read a bit low. It is tricky but as long as I stay below 6.5 after meals I'm happy and will just have to see what HbA1c says for accuracy.

She agreed that I can stay off statins but pushed the fact that she is recommending them. We came to a compromise that I will review this decision after my next lot of blood tests, not due until December. Plenty of other things discussed, but that is for another thread.

Oh dear CE. You have obviously never enjoyed the delights of a chip butty. ;)

I do/did like a chip butty, but not as much as the chips or a nice crispy batter. I can't wait till Boxing Day as I'm having a few chips then as a treat, unless my next HbA1c test is in first week of January!!

Yes, I'm on the same batch but I'm not sure if previous canisters were also the same - I know the last one was because I'm using that for disposal of used ones at the moment. Could explain a bit of a plateau recently but then again it might not be that. Next HbA1c at the end of September.

Anyway, 5.8 this morning - satisfied with that at the moment, would like to see some consistency though.

It's interesting that at least 3 of us noted this slight shift, upwards. I know it's easy to manufacture a reason that is really an excuse, but when it's not in isolation, it's helpful, to me anyway.

I'm OK with whatever the number is, provided I can explain it, if it's way off, and my trends are fine.

(Patio drying before the next onslaught.)

I noticed it with my last but one batch( last batch gave some higher readings but the humidity and being away accounted better for that ) - not massive swings but just not as many preprandial 4s - I put it down to upping exercise but it could equally have been a high reading batch. I think it is significant that several of us have noticed higher readings as makes it more likely to be a strip issue rather than us. Also if I read Andrew's post correctly, he has tested with another meter and a new batch number of strips and come back into his usual range, supporting the idea that the strips are reading higher.
