A very late good morning to all. 5.8 when I finally got out of bed.
Scheduled for the Flu jab on Wednesday, unfortunately caught the Flu yesterday. A terrible chest infection and energy zapper came on like steam train. I went to bed at midday with over the counter meds. I'm off work today resting but feeling so much better it's unbelievable. Sometimes the body demands rest.
Pleased BG is behaving.

get well soon. Got my jab on Saturday and hope it works as I've had flu twice in recent years ( as well as whooping cough last year) and it sucks x

Hello lovely folk! I am back - and I've missed you! My home broadband went down Tuesday afternoon and the engineer couldn't get here until late this afternoon! I'm going to have a lot to catch up on you all-time hope you are all ok?
My levels have been really good:
Tuesday never went higher than 5.4 bedtime was 4.5
Weds waking was 4.8 highest in day 5.6 bed 4.5
Today waking 4.6 highest 5.3
Before dinner 5.1, 1 hr later 4.8 (smoked haddock with a knob of butter, green beans)
I then had raspberries and cream and 1 hour later am 4.6 !!
Obviously I will test again in an hour on the raspberries!!
I'm just feeling really good, like magic my back 8 days on has relaxed and more or less normal again!!

That is brilliant Kimbo. Have you tried any carb experiments? To me it looks like you may have reversed this, in remission, cured, whatever you like to call it.

I wondered where you were, and I did miss you.

Ahh....thank you Bluetit! I'm holding out the "carb experiments" until my HbA1c on Tuesday, going to be interesting to say the least! I really enjoy my new way of eating, today at work one of the groundsmen brought us a cream cakes in......I said no thank you and joked I must seem really awful but I don't wish to deviate, he said I was doing so well! My tastes have changed so much in 14 weeks. I do know that without you lovelies on here I wouldn't have the knowledge, inspiration and encouragement in the first place. Thank you x

Good luck with your HbA1c. There shouldn't be any problems for you on that score. How much more weight have you to lose? Once that is where you want it you will have to tweak a few things.

Might try a smaller amount, though in truth I only use a small amount now.
Forgot to add,Ialso need to pass water 6/7 times within 2 or 3 hours after 5am.This is before breaking fast.
I mix oats with milled linseed very low carbs but high fibre. Seems to smooth the blood sugar response. I add a few almonds.

I don't know in pounds or kilos Bluetit, as ive said before don't own scales due to obsessing years ago etc. I'm certainly two jeans sizes down already and still dropping. Don't want to be skinny as I'm so tall- 6.2 1/2 , when I go for the results on 27th I shall ask the dn to weigh me but to tell me the loss not the figures!!

@miked.
TIPS wish I had some to give you, I think it's just me being a little stubborn and the wake up call with Type2. My family have wanted and pestered me to stop for over 30 years, with not having any ill effects apart from a mini stroke 6/8 years ago and high BP, which was obviously nothing to do with cigs? My life has been good, T2 frightened me and I took the decision to try to control IT. So far so good on that front, got me to thinking the time had come to re-evaluate the cigs having decided it must BE done I have gone down the Ecig route and again so far so good. Working on 50% nicotine vapour for 5 weeks, 25% for next 5 weeks and see where I go from there.

I think the difference is that I have decided to do this and I will either win or fail, I love a challenge.

Anyway if you decide to stop I will gladly give you any help or support I can, I see we are of similar age, let's prove there's more life in us than some of the youngster might think lol.

Thanks John :)

I'm similar in outlook to you so I'm gonna give it a bit of effort to cut back to before and after meals and nothing in between. I should have sufficient reasons as a pack of 20 now costs $18 AUD !!!!

Will keep you posted !!

Had a 5.5 this morning (on wake up) so it looks like I have that side of things under control :)

Mike

Fasting glucose 5,2 this morning, which was a bit of a relief.

You see we were out with friends last night and dinner was a curry, prawn madras and some aubergine in a spicy creamy sauce for me, without any rice, I used papadum to push everything down,

I had no idea how my bloods would react and as dinner was quite late, around 10, I unfortunately fell asleep before taking my 2 hour post prandial count.

Still it was a very nice night out and with a 5,2 count this morning, probably not much harm was done.

Another 5km walk this morning, a much more gentle affair today after yesterday's more intensive effort, pushed the count down to 4,9 before breakfast.

Have a great day and keep well

Pavlos

5.1 going to bed, 5.5 on waking. Still stuck in the fives, but certainly not complaining.

Out tonight for a meal with friends in Town (Manchester) SAMs Chop House, 1st visit since diagnosis, be interesting to see what I can eat of their menu, will be good foodwise apart from some Vodka which will doubtless make my Sat morning reading low.

Have a good day everyone.
