Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Morning Adrian! As @Bluetit1802 says, for us not on insulin it can happen, most nights I take a virtually carb free hot chocolate to bed (cocoa, sweetener and cream) and sometimes a piece of cheese or a square of 80/90% dark chocolate to please my liver! This morning when I was wide awake at 4am I tested and was 5.3, a nice fasting figure for me and on target. Are you insulin dependent?
Thanks for that reassuring note Kimbo. No I'm not on insulin just Metformin for the diabetes and 1/2 dozen other tabs for the heart attack. last night I went to bed 5.9 and this morning I was 5.7. Can I ask what make is your hot chocolate, might try some. Cheese and a lot of other fatty food is out for me or only in very small quantities because of the heart attack, so I have to balance a LCHF diet with a not so LCHF diet.........not easy really but I'm getting there.

It's ok Adrian- that's how we rock here, this forum is a fantastic place for advice, support and encouragement! The hot chocolate I make from pure cocoa powder, Cinderella, add boiling water to mix then a,dash of double cream, much nicer than the "options" low calorie, which are 5gm carbs each. It's obviously an added complication for you given your heart attack. My last cholesterol in July was 3.7 which was perfect, I expect a rise obviously next hba1c in April but as I've now got my levels to non-diabetic 38 and by then should have dropped my aimed for one more Jean size (two if I'm greedy!!) I figure I could then tackle anything else. I don't go ott on fats, more just moderate than high .

Thats like TWIGGY proportions...Go Girl!

5.5 this morning and i know why. i skipped lunch yesterday thought i would just survive on almonds and cashews and had too many... went to gym in early evening for my masochist session...back flexibility torture session..and then was starving by 7.00 pm. Just ate too much...

My readings were pretty good but recently they have been in double figures, this morning my reading was 14 and it seems to be a trend of double figures, I am back at doctors in 5 days so hopefully it will get sorted.

scratching head smiley.jpg Derrrrr, what is "Cinderella" please?

At my last GP visit 2 weeks ago, my cholesterol was perfect but I had an Hba1 of 107. This however I was told is something that could have been triggered by the attack. My GP wasn't at all concerned, so I'm working to get that down before my next visit. As for Jean sizes. I had to buy some more yesterday as I've gone from a 38" waist to a 34".

Ha!ha! Hardly @beatdise - I'm never going to be twiggy trust me! One more Jean size is a reasonable aim for april, if I get two by July (a year on from starting my journey) that would,be fab! I do need to think of proportion though as I'm tall, 6. 2 1/2", so need some shape to not be a plank!

Oh dear, that must be a bit of a worry. Do you know why your levels have gone into double figures?

Oops......predictive took over again....canderelle!! I use the granulated.
Great progress on the jeans too, well done! obviously male clothing goes by inches and female in 12, 14 etc!
My hba1c at diagnosis was 61, dropped it to 53 in 6 wks, then to 38 in the following 12 weeks. Come Monday morning I will be non-meds and diet exercise only......going to be interesting! Apart from the very occasional lansaprozole which I hardly now ever need as no indigestion these days, I won't be taking anything, I even stopped the anti-depressants about four or five months ago too as I felt I no longer needed them!

Gosh Kimbo - You really have ditched the meds, big style!! You must be utterly delighted.

Going to be interesting from Monday with no forxiga, just me in charge of the whole thing! Dn seeing me end of month to see how I'm doing and she also said while I'm there I can use her scales again (haven't had them at home for over 20 years after getting paranoid!) So I get to see what I've lost this month
It does feel good to think I will be med free, just hope the levels play nicely!

6.9 mmol/l. Glad the stormy winds have eased this morning, it was bad last night. Today is to be calm but another weather warning for wind is in effect from 1800 GMT.
