Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Is that right about the c-peptide tests? Up to 11 after meals?????? That doesn't sound too safe to me, certainly on a regular basis. :eek:

Well done on the Forxiga and unexpected HbA1c test though. Excellent news.
I've just looked up Forxiga... it sounds like a wonder-drug, doesn't it? The European Commission has just approved it, as well as NICE... why doesn't everyone get it? It apparently reduces weight and blood-pressure... surely, it would save the NHS a fortune? And it would make people feel better....
 
Hi, I've still got 2 pots of Batch 44 to go :arghh: that's 100 pricks of no confidence, not sure I want to use them after seeing this, does anybody want then? :cool: good price!

4.8 this morning on my Accu Chek Mobile, I have been in the late 5s for weeks on the SD codefree. My new strips turn up tomorrow.

I dont even know, I was thinking of just playing around with it, but I will order new one's.
I was 7 on salads, I kept reducing my carbs and now i am on 20g, cant go below that and readings in 6 only.
I used to be 4's and 5's even after carb heavy meal I was early 6 but on this i am no less than 6 ever. But on a plus side may be our levels are better than they were before, may be i am in 4's all days but that is being too optimistic :)
I would probably just gladly take my 4's and 5's for now.

Stop this stress and worry, order some more strips today. Hopefully it will put your mind at rest. I am finding my batch 61 very good and am back to 4's and 5's before meals with nothing outrageous after meals unless I deserve it. ;)

Probably not as cheap as Metformin, which also has otter fringe benefits on cholesterol etc. and If memory serves, there's a greater risk of kidney cancers on the drug group that Forxiga belongs to.

That's just what I thought, too. I honestly began to suspect my levels were increasing, but all is well.
 
You are right and anyways I think it's worth the 25 pounds in gold literally.
 
I'm going senile, just realised I posted my morning bs on a totally different thread :oops: anyway it was 4.7 which was surprising as I had a peanut 9 bar before going to bed.
I decided to try bread again today, this time a steak and onion baguette at lunch time at a pub lunch. BIG mistake, bs shot up to 9.7!!! I've scoured all the breads on the shelves to my thinking and it looks like nothing is going to be suitable. Oh well bread is overrated anyway:(:arghh:
 
killerkaz I just read your diagnose which was hbac1 66 and now you are down to 41 my last visit to the DN I was 59 and she said I may have to have another tablet next time I am trying to lower it with lchf but looked to see what you had been eating on the eating thread but couldn't find you would you mind saying what you eat daily so I could see and maybe get my head around it thanks
 
I was not feeling too well over the weekend and had a couple of 6.0s but it was 5.6 yesterday and 5.0 this morning so hopefully I'm back to into the 5s again.
 
A flat 5.0 here ..... getting happy with these figures :) still have not gone above a mid range 8 for months and months
 
Mike that's great hoping to get myself steady at the moment i'm around 6.5 but high 7.7 of a morning
 
Thanks Pam .... I find moderate exercise evening prior always drops my BS for the following morning. Might not work for you but just a suggestion.

5.7 (again) at 5 am. Then a 5 hour drive to Kent, train to London, hastily snatched lunch of olives and feta eaten standing up on the Piccadilly Line, 3 hours lecturing to undergraduates, train back to Kent. Not surprisingly pre-dinner was 6.1, tired, a bit dehydrated and liver confused! Had a chicken and chorizo skewer with salad and a glass of Shiraz, +2 a bit more settled at 6.3. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Hi Pam, I usually start the day with Greek yoghurt with strawberries and just a few blueberries, if I am not working I will have a cooked breakfast of bacon egg tomato and 1 Staffordshire oatcake (my bs can tolerate that). For lunch it's usually soup or salad, maybe even leftovers from previous nights dinner, in the evening I will have a cooked meal of either fish or meat with salad or veggies. I don't snack between meals, and I very rarely have potatoes, pasta, rice and bread. Just not worth the spike in my bs levels, as I found today when I tried a baguette. It's all trial and error and I test before eating and 2hrs afterwards, what spikes my bs May not spike yours, we are all different, but I have found that cutting right down on carbs has helped enormously. There are loads of people on here who can give you lots of pointers and are only to willing to help. That's how I learned how to control my condition and also have the incentive to improve and eventually get off meds which is my ultimate goal. If I can help in any way please let me know, ask any questions you like, if I don't know the answer there will always be someone who does, thats the beauty of this forum. Good luck

I don't know how you can keep up this sort of pressure and commuting. It would kill me off. Your hols are coming up soon though. Where are you off to?

Blimey and I moan about an hour's drive to and work..........you've got more stamina than me

It's not every day fortunately, just a bit hectic at the moment. Normally I'd do the trip once a fortnight and preferably by train.

We've got two nights in Lancashire (Mellor) as a base for catching up with some relatives, then a week in a cottage in Shropshire catching up with some old haunts and friends who still live there.

5.8 down to 5.3 post breakfast
4.9 to 5.3 post lunch
No teatime test pre 4.7 3hrs later
