Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.3 today still finishing up the batch of codefree strips that are thought to be reading about 0.5 higher.

5.3this morning nothing to eat since eight last night drs today for fasting boods hbc1a etc so we will see how we are progressing this time next week.

3.9 for me this morning. That's just about bang in the middle of my personal range. The slight muddying of the waters by the potential for higher reading batch of strips perhaps means I'm a bit lower. I must admit, I felt really quite low this morning. For me, that low feeling starts at 3.4/3.5, but it's not a material consideration.

I'm currently looking at my diary to see when I can find a completely clear 36 hours when I can commit myself to hourly testing; just for a day or so. My latest HbA1c has reinforced, to me anyway, that I would like to do this. At 32/5.1%, it's undoubtedly a great umber, but there must be periods of the day or night when I am higher than the readings I routinely see. So, I want to test to understand when those periods might be, and what the scores actually are. I have a feeling I may be going quite low, then bouncing during the night. When I wake low, more often than not, I will have a vague, low level headache, which I'd quite like to understand too.

In the meantime, I have to get some research done into the dreaded cholesterol. My numbers have bounced back upwards; not quite to my diagnosis scores, but certainly higher than they were 6 months ago. Disappointingly, when I had my bloods done in May, the local lab, overseas only measured total cholesterol and triglycerides, so I could take a high level view, but no detail. That view was that my cholesterol had notched up a bit in the period Feb>May.

The left field information on the doctor's notes appended to my results was a note of simply "?Hypothyroidism". Hmmmmmm. I don't fancy that much, and certainly don't have any symptoms, so there's plenty to discuss. In so many ways, it's a shame it's going to be done over the telephone. But, if necessary, I'll use that call as a factfinding exercise and book to see her at a future date. As I'm in UK for a few months, there's no need to rush at the moment.

Oh well. I like to have something to occupy my mind!

p.s. - More patio cleaning today! Oh boy, my bingo wings should be feeling unwanted, for sure. :)

5.8.......exactly what I went to bed on last night! Feeling a bit "off" this morning somehow, don't know why!

Everyone has "off" days Kimbo, irrespective of their diabetic status. Try not to over-analyse it, at this stage.

I hope your day perks you up.

5.8 on going to bed
6.1 on getting up. :(

Had a day of experiments yesterday.
Baked beans for lunch. Only 100g of low sugar ones. Dreadful spike to the mid 8's at 1hr and stayed up there at 2hrs, back down to the 6's at 3hrs. I won't be repeating that in the near future.
Then for evening meal I tried some pastry, not a lot. Big spike to 9.4 at 1 hour but happily back down to 6.4 at 2hrs so I was reasonably happy in that it came down as it is supposed to.

It's our wedding anniversary today (38 years) so off out for a meal this evening ..... we shall see what we shall see ...

6.6 this morning :) Then 8.1 after lemon and ginger tea witch two sweetex :( Gutted
Could my liver still be dumping? Even though I'm up walking around and doing things?
Anyway I ate a slice of bread and butter and then got the bus to work,
Then realised I had forgotten my meter so I will be in suspense all day (sucks):)

I noticed it with my last but one batch( last batch gave some higher readings but the humidity and being away accounted better for that ) - not massive swings but just not as many preprandial 4s - I put it down to upping exercise but it could equally have been a high reading batch. I think it is significant that several of us have noticed higher readings as makes it more likely to be a strip issue rather than us. Also if I read Andrew's post correctly, he has tested with another meter and a new batch number of strips and come back into his usual range, supporting the idea that the strips are reading higher.
yes that is correct @cold ethyl which is how I managed to track it down to the strips. I was really getting worried with my numbers - btw the peaks seem even higher than the 0.5 - like they are at their maximum +15% tolerance level. If you read the pamphlet they have difference tolerance levels depending on the range the real value is. So my 8 one hour peak appears as over 9 and hence the numbers seem like I am losing control! That is when the problem solver in me stepped in even if it was going to cost me money

Congratulations Bluetit (and Mr Bluetit)! Have a great evening.

6.0 this morning (so much for mentioning consistency). I've estimated that I could have been on this S0313438 batch of strips for around three or four weeks. If I look at my graphs having them all about 0.3 lower over that period would kind of make sense, but you can imagine all sorts of trends and some of it might just be wishful thinking.

Ahh.....Happy Anniversary bluetit!! Hope you have a lovely evening

yes happy wedding anniversary. Hope you have a lovely day and eat something nice but not too naughty.

Just squint at the meter then ;-)

Not even wasting a strip! I'll test before I go to bed. That will probably be bad enough, but I was only 4.8 before we went out.

I had garlic button mushrooms in a sauce made with garlic butter, cream and white wine. Half a crusty roll and butter.
Rump steak (sadly no fillet on the menu), carrots, more mushrooms, mange tout (left those, don't like them), tomato, half a child's portion of thick homemade chips, 3 or 4 large battered onion rings, glass of red wine and 2 bottles of mineral water. It was delicious but I ate too much.
